Coronavirus: CPL cricket tournament in progress in Mangaluru despite govt orders

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Mar 14: It seems that the Coastalwood is not bothered about the coronavirus epidemic precautionary measures announced by the government on March 13.

Coastalwood Premier League (CPL) is being held at the Nehru Maidan of the city without any issues. All the actors, actresses and technicians of Coastalwood are having a great time.

Nehru Maidan is situated near the offices of deputy commissioner and police commissioner where open violation of the government order is taking place.

The general public is miffed with the fact that the district administration which has asked footpath vendors to close business is not looking into these kinds of violations done by celebrities and influential people of society.

My friend Paul, I hope you are aware of the reason the government has stopped people from visiting malls and organising tournaments. If you don't know, let me tell you that this is to prevent the spread of the disease as it is easy for corona to jump from person to person when people gather in large numbers. The idea behind the government order is to arrest the spread of the dreaded disease. We must also understand that the government has done this after consulting the medical experts and I guess this has been done for the benefit of the public. My friend Paul, as citizens of this country is it not incumbent on us to support the government when something is done in the public interest? We have to obey the orders of the government and anyone not doing that should be severely dealt with. I can't be more clear than this.

The government should immediately arrest the organisers of this tournament. This shows the lackadaisical attitude of the people of this educated district.
