About Airport Service Quality (ASQ)

Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey is the world-renowned and internationally established global bench-marking programme measuring passengers’ satisfaction, whilst they travel through an airport, conducted by the Airports Council International (ACI), (a global non-profit organisation of Airport Operators). ASQ awards recognize
those airports around the world that deliver the best customer experience in the opinion of their own passengers.

Airports Council International (ACI), the global trade representative of the world’s airports carries out international bench marking of airports through its participative programme known as Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Survey measuring passengers satisfaction across 34 key performance indicators that includes 8 major categories such as access, check-in, security, airport facilities, food and beverage, retail, airport environment and arrival services.

The ASQ programme provides the research tools and management information to better understand passengers’ views and what they want from an airport from the products and services standpoint.

I am wondering if ASQ is a local body and the world is limited to Mangalore. Classic phrase " Baaviyolagina Kappe"

If MAngalore is the best o the world, I think the guys who came to judge the airport have only seen local bus stands.

First we have to change the airport place from table top to ground level . Actually we will get near Bajpe but MP should take the decision first for this. Mangalore railway station still under mallus , we still haven’t get division . There is no intercity express from Mangalore to Bangalore. If MP will do hard work everything is possible .

Staff's in Mangalore airport are friendly .
I request to have a restaurant inside the airport.

They just have one stall selling sandwich, samosa etc which is not enough.
Such stalls are even found at Kankanady Railway station.

As I'm a frequent traveller, one thing sure, at arrival all officials like immigration, customs, police ete are friendly and respect the arriving passengers with smile as per my experience ever since it become MIA. Earlier days while landing at Mumbai airport the second alternate way to reach Mangalore, all happiness was momentary vanishes from us as we have to face the customs, whether you have dutiable items or not. Once they comes to know onward flight journey, they threaten more by asking to open the baggage so no time to think and direct to negotiation of (?) .

I did not see anything better than just a airport like any others. This airport is on hill top may be better for look but not sure about safety for aircrafts landing. We required a proper size airport where big aircrafts can land from NOrth America and Europe with better connections around the world. That is how grade the airport. We still have to connect to middle east or other countries to land mangalore

The rating is possibly done through a vague algorithm rather than customer feedback. I am not saying the airport is bad, there are many good things about this airport like friendly staff. But to say it is one of the best in the world is an over statement.

I don’t know what was the criteria for selection ..

the airport does not cater to full service international flights.....
has no business lounge or premium services.....
Has no proper duty free , a small corner shop that they call duty free.......
    Has no restaurants ......
Has not a decent cafe, one small stall they call cafe.....

    Congratulation nevertheless!
