Bantwal: Vittal police arrest ganja peddler in transit

Bantwal, Feb 24: Vittal station police on a tip-off arrested a ganja peddler who was trying to transport Ganja in a lorry. The arrested accused is identified as Alike village, Karnataka resident Haris. 1.465 kg Ganja, Rs six lac worth lorry and Rs 2,000 worth mobile phone are seized by the police. The ganja was found in a bag under the seat, inside the cabin of the lorry parked in the house yard of Hasainar, resident of Alake village, Karnataka.

The accused started running when he saw the police. He was chased and caught and the lorry was checked when the ganja was found in it.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that he had bought the ganja in Kerala at low price to sell in Karnataka. More details are expected after further investigations.

The operation was conducted in the leadership of police circle inspector T D Nagaraj by Vittal SI Vinod Reddy under guidance from Bantal DySP Valentine D’ Souza. The accused is produced in the court.
