Ghastly accident at Karkala: At least nine dead, many injured as tourist mini bus hits boulder

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (MS)

Updated

Karkala, Feb 16: More details have emerged about the ghastly bus accident at Mulnoor near here, in which nine people from Mysuru died and many were injured. It is alleged that the driver of the mini bus failed to turn the steering wheel of the bus at the bend on the road, because of which the bus collided directly into the boulder. It is said that the driver did not reduce the speed as he was not aware of the boulder till the last moment.

Lucky escape for scooter rider

A man who was riding his two-wheeler on the same route lost consciousness and fell on the road as he saw the bus coming towards him. He was lucky, as the bus hit the boulder and stopped without moving further on the road. But the rider, shocked by the incident, was lying on the road for sometime. Only after other passersby splashed water on him did he recover and left the spot.

Drivers' bodies pulled out using rope

Giving details of the horrible crash, Sumeeth, a gram panchayat member of Nallur said, "The bus was completely smashed. We had a tough time getting the passengers out of the bus. We could not bring the bodies of the driver as well as the co-driver, who was sitting behind him. Ultimately we tied rope to their bodies and pulled them out of the bus."

Sumeeth also said that when he received news of the accident, he rushed to the spot and took three people to hospital in his vehicle.

Bus slides for 20 meters even after crash

Though the bus hit the roadside boulder, it did not stop there itself but went to a distance of around 20 meters along the side of the boulder. This was because of the speed at which the bus was travelling. The people who lost their lives are the ones who were seated on the seats behind the bus driver.

Our Lady on accidents, disasters and on must pray more...

MESSAGE GIVEN BY OUR LADY TO WILLIAM
    COSTELLIA – 14th FEBRUARY 2019
    NO. 779...

"My children of Australia and the wide world must pray more, because times are changing and mankind is falling further and further away from the Truth. Be at peace, My son.”

“My beloved children of the Earth, you see and hear many disasters in the world and it is agonizing for Our children and yet, the world displays it through the Media, but forgets it very quickly. How sad it is, My sweet children.”

“The War will come soon upon the world and many millions will die, because My children have forgotten to pray. You will hear of accidents that are not accidents, because the whole world has many demons loose from Hell, because this is the time for the Antichrist to have full control of the world and the persecution of the elect. The great War will begin in the Middle East and in Europe. A few of the atomic weapons will be used, My dear children and many of Our children will be taken – good as well as the evil.”

“Pray for Iran, because Iran is in great darkness. Pray for the children of Lebanon, because the Evil One has that Nation. Soon the world will know that time is here, when the two volcanoes in Italy erupt and bring great devastation upon two cities. The volcanoes will erupt in Indonesia and in the countries nearby. Many people will be taken.

“And also, pray for Japan, for Japan will once again be suffering through a nuclear [disaster].

“My dear children, I come today to give you Messages which are not very pleasant, but My children must awake from their slumber, because the world goes further and further away from My Divine Son.”

“The United States of America: Be warned, because California will soon go into the sea and take many, many souls with it.”...

I was probably 5th vehicle that came just after the accident. People were gathered and I was under the impression that it's a small accident and will clear up. Little did I know the images would forever be stuck in my mind when I went to see. People were in agony with hands and legs broken and hanging. Some were not moving at all and were made to sleep on the road. Some had severe head injury and were bleeding heavily. Most were disoriented and crying out of pain. From what I could make out from the scene, the driver was constantly on the brakes since he was climbing down the ghat and at some point the brakes failed on him. Some were saying he tried to avoid a scooter. None the less there were long brake marks on the road.

Since it took too much time for the ambulance to come to the scene some of us volunteered to drop them to the nearest hospital. Since I was travelling alone I took 2 patiens with me. The one in the back seat had a broken hand and leg and it was literally hanging. The one in the front had massive concussion, was disoriented and was bleeding heavily from head and ears. It took me about 20 mins to drop them in karkala private hospital. They didn't have staff and had to put them on the stretcher myself. Sadly, the hospital was not equipped to handle such severe cases of trauma and internal bleeding. They called 2 ambulance to take them to manipal. I hope they made it out of danger. Also, it was not just me volunteered to take patients to the hospitals. Thanks kind strangers.

Shout out to our government for changing policies that those who help road accident victims to take to the hospitals are not to be harassed, asked money, sign any forms or any of the procedures that stigmatized people earlier. I was surprised they didn't even ask my name or take my phone number. Although my car is drenched in blood and I would have tough time cleaning it up, it should be nothing compared to saving lives.

It's not a express way but a fairly good road compared to many other roads in similar terrain. We are fit to ride only on Bullock carts on muddy village roads and no matter even if you get the Kuwait City- Fahaheel Express way , we still crash and get killed. Deafening rock and roll music in moving bus is the one of the causes.

Straight into the boulders that's a horrible accident !!
In the last picture, road looks narrow and straight cut . A "v" shaped cut across the mountains would have saved lives, even if the driver lost control.

Very sad and unfortunate... Most of the outside drivers are in experience in driving through ghat areas. Also since the outside drivers are not aware of routes compared to daily commuters they fail to understand any sudden diversion is the high speed highways thus resulting in accidents.

Outside drivers should be extra careful while driving out of their localities.

Really horrible to hear and imagine such accidents.

This road was developed during early 70s for Kudremukh mining project and all kind of heavy machinery and mining equipment used to be moved via this road with heavy haulage trucks. Accidents do occur due to mechanical fault but majority of our accidents are caused due to human errors, reckless and irresponsible driving, disrespect to traffic rules and lack of knowledge on defensive driving skills, incompetent and corrupt authorities granting drivers license and mostly lack of respect to human lives. The tendency will not change and there will be incidents like these in future too. Only God has to save the people in this country.

Langoo,Washington DC,you cant blame Police .They are not suppose to do forensic work. That should be done by trained mediciners.Police has other work to do.To collect and register the accident details. However it is a ghastly accident with more deaths.quite possible driver was on the way for long time without any break.was tired and must have fallen in sekunden sleep .it is without his knowledge when tired.Nowadays drivers too have lot of pressure from employers to come in time.May their souls rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathys to their familys.

    Rita,

Forensic tests could be done on living or dead human bodies as well as on any machines / Cars/Planes to determine cause of the crash....or even be conducted on Mobile phones...

Forensic's could be conducted on Mobile phones as well, US was bugging your Chancellors personal mobile for more than two years without your Intelligence agencies able to find it out...perhaps German's are too bad in Forensics....too bad...

    Mon, Feb 17 2020

    Rita,

Topic here is Forensics....it could be done on anything including this bus ....that is the point here....

You were of the opinion Forensic tests were conducted only on humans or human bodies...just tried to correct you it could be conducted on any machines as well including this bus to determine cause of this accident...

It is reported there were brake marks on the road....its possible braking system was not working properly...its possible axle of one side has malfunctioned....its possible driver was over speeding...its possible driver was distracted by large noise passenger's were making...

Path of least resistance is to blame the dead driver and pass on....but a state of the art Forensic test / analysis will determine exact reason for this accident...

Just because Forensic Medicine is taught as a subject in Medical Colleges ....medical workers ASSUME Forensic Tests are conducted on living or dead humans ....its INCORRECT...

YES, your Chancellors mobile phone was tapped by CIA for 2 years, without German Intelligence knowing about it....it does not put German Intelligence in good light...If CIA did the same, to Putins mobile, Russian intelligence would have found it out in seconds...that is good FORENSICS Rita....

    Thanks you...

Bad road condition might have been contributory factors too...now some wise guys will ask me , thousands of vehicles ply through this route daily...Why only this bus hit boulder???...

I would respectfully say...may be driver was new to this road...if he drank any 'Thirtha' before driving , it will come in Postmortem report...if he had insufficient sleep, it will not come in the report....

.One of my well wisher from Kuwait , who traveled in this road...just texted me to tell me, road condition in this road is terrible...perhaps she is right as well...

I travel atleast twice a month on these roads. They are almost all the time beautiful. Hardly any potholes.

They have reflectors at the sides and in the middle. Don't just yap without checking facts. And one should know to drive heavy vehicles in ghats. Especially climbing down.

If brakes are constantly engaged they over heat and at some point fail. Regular drivers know this and do engine braking instead. I wouldn't even come to a conclusion that it was drivers fault a few guys who reached there before me told he tried to avoid a scooter.
