Kasargod, Feb 12: Excise department sleuths confiscated 22 kg ganja from a bus at Manjeshwar. The accused drug peddler escaped from the bus.
Ganja was being transported in a KSRTC bus on its way from Mangaluru to Kasargod. The drug was kept hidden in eleven packets of two kgs each under a seat in the front portion of the bus. The officials who stopped the bus at Manjeshwar check post found the drug. The accused fled from the rear door and could not be caught even after a chase. The value of the confiscated Ganja is worth about Rs eight lac.
An Aadhaar card of a Chengala resident was found in the bag in which the drug was found. The officials are conducting investigation to find out if the Aadhaar card is of the accused.
