Kasargod: Biker tries to avoid Excise squad – Suffers serious injuries

Kasargod, Feb 10: In an incident that occurred on the night of Sunday, February 9, a bike rider was seriously injured as he tried to escape from the excise squad which was chasing him to confiscate the illicit liquor he was possessing.

This incident occurred at Chevaru near Paivalike in the district.

Acting upon definite information that a biker is transporting illicit liquor, excise officials conducted an operation and asked the biker to stop at Permude. However, Naveen, the bike rider did not stop and tried escape from the excise personnel, who started to chase him on their vehicle.

Naveen, in a bid to escape, hit his bike against the compound wall of the primary health center at Chevaru. He was seriously injured. He is admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

When the excise personnel checked the bag in the bike they found bottles of liquor. A case in this regard is registered by the excise personnel as well as the Kumble police.
