Mangaluru: Anti-CAA protest at Adyar Kannur on Jan 15 – Security beefed up

Mangaluru, Jan 14: In the wake of the huge anti-CAA protest rally that will be held on January 15 at Adyar Kannur on the outskirts of the city by the Muslim Central Committees of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, elaborate security arrangements and diversion of traffic is done by the police department.

In this connection Roll Call of police officers and personnel was held on Tuesday, January 14, at Police Grounds in the city. Information regarding the security as well as traffic arrangements was given to the police officers, who arrived from all the districts of Karnataka state.

The roll call parade consisted of three ADGPs, one DGP, 11 SPs, 18 ASPs, 100 DySPs, 300 police inspectors and 500 police sub-inspectors.

Police department has also handed out guidelines to the organizers and the participants in the event as well as to the general public. This mainly consists of traffic diversion to avoid road blocks.

*All two wheelers coming from Mangaluru are to be parked at the ground in front of Jaguar showroom
*All cars and other four-wheelers coming from Mangaluru to attend the convention need to park their vehicles at Seizure Beedi grounds
*All buses coming from Mangaluru and B C Road have to be parked at Mohtisham grounds
*All two wheelers coming from B C Road to the function should be parked at Kambli grounds
*All cars and other four wheelers arriving from B C Road should be parked at Adyar Katte Jumma Masjid grounds
*All police and emergency vehicles will be parked at Well Ring parking and Shankar Vittal parking
*Buses coming from B C Road and Farangipet side should be parked at Heritage Ground parking

Guidelines for public in view of traffic diversion which will be in force from 9 am to 9 pm of Wednesday, January 15.

*Vehicles coming from Udupi and proceeding towards Bengaluru should take diversion at Padubidri and go via Karkala-Dharmasthala to Shiradi Ghat
*Vehicles arriving from Bengaluru to Mangaluru should take diversion at Melkar-B C Road via Konaje-Thokkottu and proceed to Mangaluru city
*Vehicles going from Mangaluru to Bengaluru should take diversion at Nanthoor and proceed through Pumpwell-Thokkottu-Konaje-B C Road
*One more diversion at B C Road Kaikamba for those travelling from B C Road to Mangaluru via Polali Kaikamba

The commissioner of police of Mangaluru city has requested the public to extend their full cooperation.
