Mangaluru, Jan 14: World Konkani Music Awards (WKMA) 2020 powered by Transformatrix LLP and in association with Mandd Sobhann will be presented at Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Bambolim, Goa, on Friday, February 7.
Addressing a press meet held here on Tuesday January 14, Eric Ozario, gurkar, Mandd Sobhann, said, “We are happy to announce that the first edition of World Konkani Music Awards-2020 will be held at Goa. The organizers have recognized the activities of Mandd Sobhann and its experience of organizing Global Music Awards. So they have invited us to be associated with them for their first edition of World Konkani Music Awards. When it comes to the matter of serving our mother tongue we, Konkani speaking people, do not confine ourselves to a specific region and surroundings. Konkani community is spread all over the world. So WKMA is a true way to find and recognize the talents from this community and felicitate them."
“Dr Pramod Sawant, chief minister of Goa, will grace the celebrations and entertainment extravaganza in the capacity of chief guest. Merlin D’Souza, well-known music director, Toby Fernandez, choreographer, and Lorna Corderio, the legendary Konkani singer, will be the special attractions of the event,” he said.
Speaking on the selection process for the awards, Allen Vaz, founder WKMA said, “Hema Sardesai, celebrity judge and social activist, Nirmika Singh, editor, Rolling Stone Magazine, lyricist and critic, Atul Churamani, managing director, Turnkey Music and Publishing, will be the jury members.
“WKMA has already received 140 plus entries from all over the world for the categories of best singer (male, female), emerging talent of the year (male, female), best song, best music director, best lyricist, best music video, best rock band, best film music and rising star.
“In Mangaluru, the passes for the show will available at Mandd Sobhann,” he said.
Alan Castelino, co-founder, Transformatrix and promoter of WKMA, and Dolphy Mascarenhas, co-founder, Transformatrix and promoter WKMA, were present.
