MoU signed to boost badminton in Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei), Jan 5 (IANS): A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that has been signed with a sports equipment supplier will give a major boost to the development of badminton in Brunei, according to the country's badminton association.

Local daily the Borneo Bulletin said on Sunday that the Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association (BNBA) signed the MoU with Yonex Sunrise Singapore at Mulia Hotel, reports Xinhua news agency.

BNBA President Haji Hamzah said the memorandum serves as a catalyst for the association to move forward. The signing hopes to encourage the association to be active in organising badminton championships in the country.

Through the MoU, Yonex Sunrise will sponsor national badminton athletes and associations in the form of equipment and prizes for competitions organised by BNBA from October 2019 to September 2024.
