Effective policing must to make women feel secure: PM

Pune, Dec 8 (IANS): Following the spate of crimes against women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Sunday asked the police to build an image that would inspire confidence among citizens and make women feel secure.

Addressing a conference of DGPs and IGs, the Prime Minister said, the role of effective policing was to make sure that "women feel safe and secure".

After listening to the presentations by different state police forces, the Prime Minister said a comprehensive list of best practices could be prepared and adopted by all the states and UTs.

This year, 11 core groups have been formed for holding brain-storming sessions on key aspects of internal and external security, like terrorism, coastal security, cyber threats, combating radicalisation and narco-terrorism.

The Prime Minister stressed the optimum use of technology to ensure proactive policing that factors-in the people's feedback.

Modi expressed his special interest for development of Northeastern states, critical for the 'Act East Policy' of his government and urged the DGPs of these states to make additional efforts to create a conducive environment for development schemes.

BJP has been ruling India for last 6 years. Was there not enough time to introduce effective policing?.

Is Home minister too busy overturning legitimately elected parties from power as he seems to be working overnight to form BJP GOVERMENT. Or is this a new slogan by BJP?

He said that only for election purpose. Once he own the election he forgot whatever he said!!!!!
He put CHOWKIDAR with his name before election. After winning the election immediately he removed it. INDIRECTLY HE CONVEYED TO HIS VOTERS SAYING THAT "YOU FOOLS FOR VOTING ME".

If women need to be safe, then the govt should do the following: 1. Increase the police force all over India from 1.9 million to 5 million. 2. Give Proper training to the police force right from the bottom to the top. 3. Ensure that the politicians do not interfere in police force day to day work. 4. Give good facilities to the police like Good police station, Good salary etc. 5. REgular exercise for the police force. 6. Good timings for the police force and not make them over work. I don't think all this will be achieved in India.
