Mangaluru: NorthernSky Group celebrates World Disability Day at Riya Foundation

Mangaluru, Dec 4: NorthernSky Group, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. celebrated World Disability Day at Riya Foundation, along with children with special needs on Tuesday, December 3. 

“It was our aim to make them feel special. We ensured that the children had fun by conducting games for them and by arranging food,” said Kritheen Amin, director of NorthernSky. 

NorthernSky Group plans to work with Riya Foundation and other NGOs which are looking after people with special needs. 

As the numbers of inmates has increased, Riya Foundation plans to shift to a more vibrant location. Riya Foundation is a private run organisation funded by Ashley and friends, family with the nominal fee provided by the parents. Registered and established in the year 2010, Riya Foundation was started with an intention of understanding and keeping in mind the hurdles faced by people with special needs and their parents. 

The ratio has been 10 special children to 1 normal child. Education provided here includes study material, mid-day meals, physiotherapy training and dance classes. The school today houses 27 children. As a token of gratitude, Kritheen Amin, director of NorthernSky Properties, wished Riya Foundation for its future success and pledged help. 

Nearly 27 special children participated in the event. Colourful programmes like dance, games were organised. Students were felicitated by the guests and prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions.
