Belagavi: Eight killed in two gory accidents - Several injured

Belagavi, Nov 9: Five devotees of Lord Vithoba, temple dedicated to whom is located at Pandharapur in the neighbouring Solapur district, became victims of a macabre road accident which happened on Friday November 8. The spot where the accident happened was near Sangolya in Maharashtra. 

The devotees were returning in a private vehicle after visiting Pandharpur when their car collided with a speeding tractor. 

Krishna Vaman Gaonkar (50), Mahadeva Kanabakar (48), Balu Ambewadikar (50), Arun Dattu Mutagekar (38) from Mandoli village in Belagavi taluk, and a driver from Hangaraga village died. Seven other occupants of the vehicle suffered injuries. 

In another accident which happened near Vakotu Paper Mill on Mysuru - T Narasipura road, three from a single family perished. They were Mohan (60), his wife, Uma (54), and son, Prajwal (35), all of whom died on the spot. Prajwal's wife, Prateeksha (32),who was seriously injured, is being treated in a private hospital at Mysuru. 

All the deceased were from Bengaluru. They had been to Duddagere village for a house warming ceremony and were returning to the city when the car in which they were seated collided head-on with a bus. A case relating to the accident was registered in Varuna police station.
