Mangaluru, Nov 8: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary released booklet on 100 days of successful BJP government in the state here at BJP office on Friday, November 8.

Addressing media Nalin said, "It has been successful 100 days of government under chief minister Yediyurappa. He has delivered hundreds of development works in the past 100 days. There were several challenges when BJP came to power including drought and flood. The government tackled both the problems and faced all the challenges and was able to address the problems effectively.

"Chief minister Yediyurappa visited flood-affected areas in the state including the district and gave assurance to the public. The government even released funds of Rs five lac to construct houses, Rs 10,000 for temporary protection and Rs 5,000 to stay in rent houses for those who lost their houses during flood. The money was directly transferred to the account of the victims. Even land was provided to those who lost their land due to landslides. Rs 6,000 from the central government and Rs 4,000 from state government was provided to the farmers under Krishi Samman scheme.

“People have faith in the BJP government and the development works are undertaken in a speedy manner as the former government was sleeping.

"When BJP was in power at MCC and in the state, when Yediyurappa was the chief minister, the government had released Rs 200 crore to MCC and almost all roads in the city were concretized. Under our tenure, development works such as Mini Vidhana Soudha, upgradation of Lady Goshen hospital and city commissionarate were undertaken. Even under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mangaluru has been part of Smart City project and Amruth Scheme.”

When asked about Jagadish Shettar appreciating Tipu back in 2013, Nalin said, "Congress has started celebrating Tipu Jayanti. Even Siddaramaiah had said that Tipu is cruel.”

When queried about any internal enquiry placed on Yediyurappa on the audio tape release, he said, "It was not released by any of our party representatives. We will have a meeting with regard to this within the party.”

District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "The Karnataka government has decided to waive loans of 23,000 fisherwomen. This was a promise made by chief minister B S Yediyurappa. I welcome the government’s decision. Fisherwomen who are having loans of up to Rs 50,000 in nationalized banks are eligible for this scheme. The waiver will benefit fisherwomen from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts.”

When asked about removing name of Gods from liquor outlets, Poojary said, "A proposal is kept of banning bars and liquor sales outlets from naming them after religious deities. I have asked officials to discuss with the department of law about ways to remove such names. The way to proceed is not decided yet. I opine that it is not right to give the names of deities to bars. We will bring an amendment to the act if we receive support from people. I will hold discussions with officials in this connection. Several bars or liquor sales outlets are named as Maha Ganapathi, Raghavendra, Manjunath, Venkateshwara etc.

“There are 190 A grade temples in the state, out of which, 100 were selected, including Subramanya temple and Kollur temple to conduct mass marriages where we will provide eight grams of gold mangalsutra, Rs 10,000 for bride and Rs 5,000 for bridegroom for the attire,” said Poojary.
