Mangaluru, Sep 17: ‘The makers of Tulu movie ‘Girgit’ and Mangalore Bar Association submitted joint memo to the court for the settlement of the case mutually, informed president of Mangalore Bar Association Narasimha Hegde.

Addressing media here on Tuesday, September 17, Narasimha Hegde said, ‘The makers of ‘Girgit’ have realized their mistake and apologized for the same. Our demand was to mute some dialogues and delete some objectionable scenes. The makers of the film have agreed to mute some dialogues within three days and cut objectionable scenes within 40 days. We jointly submitted memo to the court for the settlement of the case.

"The Bar Association always supports art, Yakshagana and Tulu movies. We are not against the movie, but a few scenes were objectionable, which has hurt the sentiments of lawyers’ fraternity for which we had to raise our voice. Now the case has been settled on a positive note and we wish ‘Girgit’ team a grand success,” he said.

General Secretary Raghavendra H V said, "We have been criticized badly in social media. We have filed a complaint against three people and two face book pages. Police have already detained two people; two Facebook pages have been blocked. We also urge to take action against the admins of the erring Facebook pages.

‘Girgit’ director Roopesh Shetty said, "The case is settled on a positive note. It was not done with the intention of hurting a profession. We agreed to the condition of Bar Association to mute the dialogues and delete the objectionable scenes. We have already applied to the censor board and procedures will be carried out for the same.”

Senior lawyer M P Shenoy said, "We do not say the movie has obscenity, but it has an objectionable scene. Lawyer profession has huge responsibility and dignity in the society. When a wrong message is spread on lawyers’ profession, we have to raise our voice. The makers of the film realized their mistake and approached us and we jointly found solution for it. The issue has come to an end on a positive note.”

Producer Manjunath Attavar was also present.

every movie will make fun of politicans so what politicians should file complaint on film makers?
most of the movie has made reporters / media as villian
    religious heads as comedians

if everbody keep filing complaint where is the scope for creativity? even the biggest industries like bollywood, hollywood, kollywood, sandalwood have portrayed lawers and judges as villians & comedians .

really regressive act from certain section of society in Mangalore.

Unfortunate that freedom of expression is being eroded day by day. People can't take satirical ideas, criticism or just fun. You're not allowed to speak of any professional or religious criticisms. Don't know why India got freedom and ohh, what freedom?!

We are considered stupid. The movie has been going on full house. Now the demand has decreased. What are they speaking about Bar and Restaurant now? We all know dignity of each profession. If some religious sentiments are hurt, they the movie does not get stay from release.
These people claim they are happy stay has been obtained. How many theaters have received notice of stay from the court? Practically none,
So, see the theaters house full-showing the movie thanks to the publicity given by the lawyers.

It is really strange that they are making noise for a scene in the movie.
I think there must be some unknown hands to spoil the image of the movie.
In fact this has given more publicity for the tulu movie.
Tulunadu ki jai. Though my mother tongue is not tulu, I love the language

If the lawyers had really taken the responsibility

The repeated rape offenders would not have come out from the jail and threaten & blackmail  victims till the victim commits suicide.

Murderers would have come out from Jail on bail and murder the witness and roam in the city freely.

Having said that, there are still some lawyers with good heart who take minimum charges and try to help poor to come out from the mess.

Absolutely right. Some professions have only good intentions like doctors their aim is to give speedy recovery from any illness (forget about some doctors who are responsible for irresponsibility and death and amounts to homicide) Unfortunately lawyer profession is such that they are ready to befriend and give protection to the perpetrators of heinous crimes. All rapists murderers cheaters scandal people easily get lawyers to defend their case and come out of jail.
