Mangaluru, Sep 16: A youth from near Thokkottu became victim of suspected dengue on Sunday September 15 evening. He was being treated at K S Hegde Hospital at Deralakatte. 

The deceased, identified as Harshith Gatti (25), was the son of Harish Gatti and Mamatha Gatti, residents of Bhatnagar, Thokkottu. 

Harshith had been admitted into Sahara Hospital at Thokkottu on September 12. As there was no improvement in his health condition, he had been shifted to K S Hegde Hospital, Deralakatte, on September 14. He was being treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital, sources said. Harshith passed away in the evening on Sunday.

Harshith, it is said, was identified with rat fever. He also was infected with suspected dengue, hospital sources stated. The sources added that all out efforts were made by the hospital to save the life of the youth by monitoring his health closely and promptly treating him, but he did not respond to the treatments. 

Harshith, who used to work as a welder, was working in a house at Mangaluru sometime back. During that period, he had lost his balance and fallen down from a height and his waist portion had suffered injuries as it took the full blow of the fall. He had to stay at home and get treated for it for two months. After recovering recently, he had begun to attend his work. 

Bhatnagar is located within the limits of Ullal city municipality. During the last some months, this happens to be the second case of death at Bhatnagar due to suspected dengue. Sometime back, Sumathi from Chembugudde had lost her life due to suspected dengue.
