Kuwait: Monthi Fest celebrated at St Therese of Child Jesus Church, Salmiya

Kuwait, Sep 7: Konkani Community of St Therese of Child Jesus Church Salmiya celebrated Nativity of Our Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the ‘Monthi Fest’ on the Friday, September 6.

Fr Valerian D’Silva, Fr Noel D’Almeida, Fr Anthony Lopez, Fr Roswin Pires along with parish priest Fr Dominic Sequeira blessed the novem and dates at the courtyard amidst a gathering of over thousand people and followed by the procession to the church. Children and elders offered flowers to Mamma Mary.

In the festal homily, visiting priest Fr Valerian D’Silva stressed upon importance of birth of Mother Mary and her obedience to God in bringing Jesus to this world. Konkani Choir led by Kiran Gonsalves sang melodious hymns of mother Mary. New Corns (Kanshi) brought from Mangaluru, dates and Vorn was distributed to the gathering after the Mass.



In preparation to the feast, Monthi Fest Triduum was held on August 30, September 2 and 3. All three days of Triduum, Fr Valerian preached about Mother Mary and children offered flowers to Mamma Mary.

Parish priest Fr Dominic Sequeira and community representative Rudy D’Souza thanked all those who helped and supported in celebrating the feast with devotion and grandeur.
