Mangaluru: St Agnes Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research launches 'NEURON'

Mangaluru, Sep 5: The department of MSc Big Data Analytics of St Agnes Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research here, inaugurated its first department association 'NEURON - Transmit data impulse' on September 4 at St Agnes PG auditorium.

The vision of the association is to build a robust platform to exchange information on various aspects of Data Science.

The chief guest, Praveen Kumar Kalbhavi, MD and CEO of NOVIGO Solutions Pvt Ltd, Mangaluru, the president Sr Dr M Jeswina AC, the Principal of the college, Anushree
Raj, head of the department - MSc Big Data Analytics were the dignitaries during the inaugural.

Final year students of BCA department were also present at the programme.



The inauguration began with a prayer song led by Roselita and group to invoke the presence of Almighty Lord. Akshitha Menon and Ramona Muthu presented the significance of Father of Artificial Intelligence - John McCarthy’s birthday celebrated as Artificial Intelligence day.

Trupti Rao welcomed the gathering.

Highlighting the key features of the department, Meghana J M gave a brief on vision, mission and objectives of the department.

Expelling the darkness and stepping toward a brighter path, the dignitaries lit a lamp and inaugurated the ceremony.

The chief guest officially unveiled the logo and Joel interpreted the Neuron. Stimulating the spirit, the chief guest handed out badges to the functionaries of the association.

Juwairiyah Mullah, president, Joel Scaria, vice president, Shereen Obeid, secretary, Farheen Obeid, publicist, Sara Afrah, treasurer, Pratima D'Souza, event manager were appointed as functionaries of Neuron. Anushree Raj, HOD administered the oath taking ceremony followed by Juwairiya, delivering the vision, mission, objectives and the activities of Neuron. Praveen Kumar Kalbhavi spoke about the importance of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analytics in the present data era. He encouraged the students to plan startups by acquiring knowledge in the areas of AI, Robotic Process Automation and Cloud. He appreciated the institution for starting such a rare course and inspired the students to get industry exposure and explore these areas.

As a token of appreciation, Sr Dr M Jeswina AC presented a memento to the chief guest. The principal motivated the students to come up with innovative ideas and be abreast with future technology.

She appreciated the department for selecting Artificial Intelligence day to inaugurate the department association. The entire ceremony was anchored by Shereen and vote of thanks was proposed by Farheen Obeid. The programme concluded with the college anthem.
