Mangaluru: St Aloysius College holds a special lecture on Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary

Mangaluru, August 22: A special lecture on Gandhiji, the great humanist was held in St Aloysius College, (autonomous) in the cooperation of Mahatma Gandhi peace foundation on the eve of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Well-known author, Mangaluru’s retired regional transport officer Dr M Keshava Dharani arrived as a resource person and gave a lecture on Gandhi’s principles. Dr Dharani recollected that the last viceroy of British India, Mount Baton had said that he felt like having seen Jesus Christ when he saw Gandhi.

Dr Ismael N, secretary of Mahatma Gandhi foundation said in his introductory address that the principles and morals of Gandhi are becoming irrelevant now and propaganda against him is growing. "The foundation intends to inform the young generation what was real Gandhi," he said.

St Aloysius College principal Fr Praveen Martis said that the life of Gandhi was one of struggle searching for the truth. "His actions were as per his talk. Therefore, his life was a message," he added.

St Aloysius Kannada Sangha president, Dr Dinesh Nayak introduced and welcomed the guests. Students, Lakshita Rai compered the programme and Shamita rendered the vote of thanks.

Gandhi peace foundation vice president, Prabhaker Sriyan, and Kannada department head Dr Saraswathi Kumari were on the dais. Gandhi peace foundation office bearers, members, St Aloysius college controller of examinations, directors of various units, professors, citizens, and Kannada Sangha student secretaries were present.
