Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Aug 19: The police have reportedly found that T Sam Peter (53) who used to pose as an officer of a criminal investigation agency of the central agency when robbing people had defrauded his own driver to the extent of Rs 50 lac.

The police got information that a gang of robbers led by Peter had arrived in the city to settle certain illegal dealings. The police got to know that Moideen alias Cherian (70) from Kulur and S K Abdul Latif (59) were planning a robbery. The police immediately went to the lodge at Pumpwell here where they were staying and arrested them on Friday.

T Sam Peter

Sam Peter had appointed a person from Padubidri as driver for his car. He had succeeded in making this driver to believe that Peter had huge assets and that he personally knows several union ministers and cine actors. He convinced the driver to sell his house and raise loan and hand over the amount of Rs 50 lac to him. When the driver sought his money back, Peter not only blackmailed him but also used to pose threats to him, saying that he knows senior police officers well.

As soon he came to know that Peter and his gang members were arrested, the driver came to the city and explained to the police about the fraud played on him. A case in this regard is likely to be filed in Padubidri police station.

It is said that out of the eight-member gang arrested on Friday night, Kulur Cherian had arrived here to discuss with the gang about his property and money issues. Latif from Falnir had introduced Cherian to Peter, it is learnt. The police reached the spot when the discussions were on.

The arrested accused persons have been given to five days police custody. More information is likely to be extracted from them in the days to come.

All stupid stories. I doubt of any genuiness in this.
Cherian also known as chayya in local circles, is a known person among business community with a lot of assets and finance business.
Of course , his dealings might not be straight forward, but I feel as though in this case, the cops are simply cooking up stories.

Whatever the reality, by law, they are not guilty until criminal act is done..

Sir Meaty, Dab... I don't know about others so unfair to comment on them but I do know Sam Peter, he is a hardcore fraudster. Whenever he goes to any new city he first targets rich businessman there and then start targeting middle class people. Sir you can come to Wardha and Nagpur ( Maharashtra) where he has cheated dozens of people, businessman, hoteliers n list is long enough.... Hats off to Manglore police.... I hope if Maharashtra police would have been this active it would have been behind the bars long back... He is absconding from Wardha from last one year n we lost every hope to ever get back our money.

Indeed it is just because our courts grant bail to criminals such activities raise day by day. First eliminate the bail system for criminals and there will be massive decrease in criminal cases.
