Bengaluru, Aug 14: Pitching for big donations from corporates in the massive task of rehabilitating the flood-hit districts of Karnataka, which has caused losses and damages of over Rs 40,000 crore according to preliminary estimates. Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has made an attractive offer of naming villages rebuilt after companies donating Rs 10 crore or more in the task of rehabilitation.

The Chief Minister, who caired a meeting with industrialists and entrepreneurs at Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday, urged industrialists to donate funds liberally in the wake rain mayhem in northern and southern districts of the State.

Yediyurappa said the flood-hit villages will be named after the companies that donate more than 10 crore rupees towards reviving the villages.

Officials from 59 companies in different sectors of the economy participated in the meeting.

A total of 103 taluks in 22 districts have been badly affected due to rains. As many as 6.97 lakh people have been relocated to relief camps and 1,160 relief centres have been set up all over the state. A total of 56,000 houses have been declared unfit for dwelling.

Pointing at the grave situation in the State, the chief minister said 200 villages in 22 districts are in need of relocation.

Appealing to the industrialists to lend a helping hand and donate to the cause, he said the flood-hit villages will be renamed after the company donating more than Rs 10 crore.

The village would be treated as the village adopted by company that donates money for the relief work.

Echoing the Chief Minister’s call, Principal Secretary Gaurav Gupta appealed to industry leaders to liberally contribute to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

“This is a disaster of unforeseen magnitude and it requires all of us to join hands and work towards a common goal. I am confident our industry and business leaders will be with us in this undertaking,’’ he said.

Chief Secretary T M Vijayabhaskar and Industries Department Commissioner Gunjal Krishna attended the meeting.

Britania Company has offered to supply food items, while TVS Motors has donated Rs 1 crore. GSK Company and Universal Builders Company has offered to take up revival of primary health care centres in all districts.

Shahi Exports has offered to supply sarees and women’s wear, Corporation Bank has agreed to give its contribution in a week, Toyota Compa has donated Rs 2 crore, Credai Rs 3 crore while several other companies have promised to provide assistance in cash and kind.

State Cabinet decisions

Meanwhile, the State Cabinet has accorded its approval for taking up the Shivamoga-Shikaripura-Ranebennur rail line at an estimated cost of Rs 956 crore.

In another project involving Chief Minister’s home district of Shivamoga, the minor airport would be development at a cost of Rs 38 crore through the KSIIDC and administrative approval was granted for taking Rs 285 crore lift irrigation schemes from Varada river for the 66 minor irrigation/zilla panchayat tanks in Soraba taluk.

What you are saying is going to happen. This Namo government has made changes to several rules and laws quietly. Now the data or details collected during 2021 census of India can be stored digitally ( electronically ) previously it was not so, not many will understand its implications. Also census commissioner of India has issued notification National Population Register ( NPR ) registration from April 2020 to September 2020 where common people will again have to give all details including biometric just like aadhar. All these steps will lead to monitoring of ordinary citizens life with NO Privacy. Plus there is likely to be National Citizen Register update just like in Assam. Parallel the bajapa is vigorously pursing membership drive now. We can expect presidential form of govt in India based on membership of political party just like in China where communists are doing. Bye bye democracy.

Atleast Iam concerned of India even though residing in foreign country, but people like you who are residing in same country have elected a lynching,uneducated/less educated, rape accused, porn viewer, looter, criminal who doesn't know about economy, planning candidates.Modi who is supposed to be caring about people is most of the time abroad trying to get photos with foreign dignitaries& embarising himself in the process, like grabing Obama hand to hand shake,Showing Google CEO aside so that his face can be seen in picture, taking a bif photo crew even while visiting his mom etc while Indian economy is declining ,unemployment increasing.

Naming by donor is not proper. The govt must safeguard these people by all means. It is a disaster where many have no role in it.The govt must spend on this disaster by curtailing vote bank expenditure and other cultural or social expenditure. The govt organization spend money on advertisement, donation, hospitality, unnecessary traveling etc all unwanted expenditure in government department and govt organization should be banned. The waiver of loan should be merit based and not mass based. Economical strength to be considered while sanction of money. The Mone spending for any religious structure, community Hall by the govt to be stopped. The private organization to be asked from their CSR funds. The expenditure on news paper allowance, lunch or coffee dinner and any other allowance which is not entitled by all or gifts to be banned. And money should be collected by curtailing wasteful and unauthorized expenditure

The recent several crores utilised for Resort politics to dislodge a govt, can't that be used for CM Relief fund and adopt the villages in their name. Rs. 40 Crores for each MLA x 10 = Rs. 400 Crores that can adopt 40 villages. Can't all the huge assets of politicians be used to adopt villages in this crisis. I have doubt the companies will lend any money as the economy is taking a downward beat. These floods are man made disasters and the politicians with bureaucrats are mainly responsible for this.

Is Yeddy trying to strike a business deal over flood victims lives with his business friends. First use up the money Rs 10,000 crores received from the centre for initial rehabilitation of victims. It's like they have bought that village and boost thier businesses and sideline the poor people who will be liabilities to them.

This is called gaayada mele bare haakodu...shame on you CM. It's your own govt sitting there in centre, why can't you ask them to release funds soon? Everyone was crying all these years that we always have opposite govts in Karnataka in state n centre. But now when we have both same, it's a useless situation. None of the leaders in the state can man up to demand funds for state cos they have to be well behaved with top bosses. This is what you voted for, and this is what you get. They say, you get the kind of govt you deserve, this is what all you deserved..
