Puttur: Man who fell into closed well rescued

Puttur, Aug 11: The mud filling that was done to an old well, collapsed and a person got stuck in the same at Muriyala of Uruvalu village near Uppinangady in the taluk. Timely help from a local, rescued the person.

Mohammed Iqbal (52) was going out to see the devastation caused by the rain on Saturday, August 10. When he stepped on to the area, where there was a well before and was closed with mud, the land collapsed and he got stuck in the heap of mud and sludge. Ramachandra Gowda Muriyala, a local resident, who heard the cries for help of Mohammed, rushed to his rescue and lifted him up.

The working style of local volunteers in and around the areas of Uppinangady in the taluk is being lauded by everyone. The group of volunteers have worked more efficiently than the district administration. Many volunteers were involved in rescue operations throughout the night. The absence of revenue department officials along with rescue team has irked the public.
