New Delhi, Aug 2: A new feature has been rolled out by WhatsApp in India called, ‘Frequently Forwarded’. The new feature will check how many times a message has been forwarded. In the past a forward feature was introduced to help curb fake news. In March 2019, a Beta update called ‘Forwarding Info’ and ‘Frequently Forwarded’ was submitted.

The company rolled out the new feature for all the Android and iOS users who are using the latest version of WhatsApp. The company’s spokesperson said, "We have recently introduced an update to our forwarded message label that helps people identify when they have received messages that were previously forwarded several times, such as a chain message. These highly forwarded messages will be marked with a double arrow icon and users will receive a notice when they are forwarding such a message."

"You can even check whether you have received this feature or not by forwarding a message or a file that have been forwarded multiple times before. Then, the messaging app will alert you with ‘forwarded many times’ label," the spokesperson added.

Over five chats at one time can be forwarded a message and the feature will be activated. Besides, the future features will allow a user to use single account on different devices, as the app works on a multi-platform system.
