Mangaluru, Jul 26: Ashwin D’Souza, a 20-year-old youth residing in Kokkada, had many dreams for his family. He wanted to get his elder sister married, provide good medical treatment for his father and build a house for his family. D’Souza was determined to make his dreams a reality through hard work. Unfortunately, luck was not in his favour.
Ashwin was travelling to work on his two-wheeler, when a pick-up van rammed into him, say eye witnesses. The impact of the accident was such that Ashwin was thrown on the road. Good Samaritans rushed him to K S Hegde hospital. He was admitted in ICU for 5 days and had to undergo various surgeries which cost his family more than Rs two lac. Ashwin has sustained serious injuries on his leg and back bone and needs more surgeries and treatment to lead a normal life. As per doctors, who are treating Ashwin, another Rs 3 lac is needed for further treatment.
Ashwin’s family already face many financial struggles. Now, they are unable to afford the hospital expenses. They are under immense pressure. If the required surgeries are not done, Ashwin may have to suffer for life.
While Ashwin’s friends are trying to collect money for his daily medical expenses, his parents are now appealing with people, as their generosity can bring a ray of hope in the life of Ashwin.
Felix D’Souza, father of Ashwin, suffers from serious health problems. He is not in the position to visit hospital or collect money for his son’s treatment. Mother Carmine Monteiro is a house wife, who has not recovered from the shock that her son has met with an accident. The family does not have other sources of income and is not in a position to provide the treatment as advised by the doctors.
The family members now helplessly watch in dismay as Ashwin’s health deteriorates with each passing day. They are now seeking financial help from willing donors to provide treatment for Ashwin. They hope his treatment continues and he can lead a normal life again.
