Media Release

Udupi, Jul 22: Parent Teachers' Association general body meeting of St Cecily's High School, here was held on Saturday July 20 at the high school hall. The event commenced with obeisance to God in the form of a beautiful dance performed by the students.

Vijaykumar Udyavar, vice president of the association welcomed the parent gathering. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr Daisy Vas, director of physical education, Dr TMA Pai College of Education, Kunjibettu, Udupi.

The president of the association and headmistress, Sr Preethi Crasta AC introduced the chief guest to the audience. Students who secured 90% and above in SSLC Board examinations, April 2019 were honoured on the occasion.

The chief guest, Dr Daisy Vaz then addressed the gathering on 'parents role in grooming children’. She stressed on the fact that parents must not materialize their dreams through their children, but must help them to nurture and pursue their own dreams. Parents must be role models of values and discipline to their child. It is parents who must control their child and not vice versa. She also emphasized that children are falling prey to distractions like smartphone which is indeed a great hazard in their right development and therefore children must not own one during their schooling days. Mentioning many such facts, Dr Daisy Vaz pointed out that a child learns 40% of values from school, but 60% from home and society. Thus, it is aptly justified that parents play a humongous role in grooming their children.

Seema presented the annual report of PTA 2018 and Frenita presented its audited financial statement. The selection process of the executive body members for this academic year was guided by Saritha. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Madukeshwar P Hegde. The entire programme was compered by Sr Jenifer D'Souza AC.
