Udupi, Jul 10: District Congress Committee members staged a protest in front of Martyrs’ Memorial Ground Ajjarkad here on Wednesday, July 10 against BJP accusing the leaders of BJP of luring Congress MLAs in the name of ‘Operation Lotus’ and killing democracy.

Addressing the protestors, former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “Governor of Karnataka is also involved in the BJP plan. Everything is happening according to the plan hatched by BJP national president Amit Shah, under the guidance of Narendra Modi and Piyush Goyal. BJP is thinking that there will be no opposition in the administration.”

“BJP is killing democracy. Operation Lotus is being carried out repeatedly by BJP state president Yeddyurappa. They are trying to weaken the Coalition government,” added Sorake.

Accusing BJP, Sorake further said, “BJP is engaging in horse trading. It is spending thousands of crores for attracting Congress MLAs. They have arranged a separate flight for the defected MLAs to go to Mumbai. BJP is thinking that whatever they are doing is right. No one will oppose their act. They are adopting a wrong path to destroy the government. So all these activities of the BJP should be stopped and they should think about saving democracy.”

“There may be differences between government and MLAs. Still I hope that all rebel MLAs will come back soon. Speaker has asked some time for solving the problem. Let him take a right decision,” concluded Vinay Kumar Sorake.

Congress leader Nagesh Kumar Udyavar said, “BJP is criticizing and going against democracy. Modi is following fascist policy. There is always hidden agenda behind BJP’s activity. BJP leaders are creating anarchy situation in the country.”

“There were cases of rape and crime reported from Puttur. Their own right wing boys are involved in the crime. But all the BJP leaders are silent,” said Nagesh.

Nagesh further said, “We also oppose all 15 Congress and JD (S) MLAs, because they were lured by BJP. There is a hope that they will come back by changing their mind.”

Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president, district Congress committee, Prakhyath Shetty, vice president, Geetha Vagle, district president of women congress unit, , leaders like Harish Kini, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Vishwas Amin, Jyothi Hebbar, Chandrika Shetty, Roshini Oliver, Sunitha Shetty, Kiran Kumar and others were present.

Favours by favoured Governors was the policy of Congress for 71 years. What is wrong if BJP is doing that selectively in legally eligible cases?

If CM has 1 percent self respect he should have resigned. He knows that he will not be CM even if MLAs take back resignation... national party will lose every state going forward

We are nearing the end of democracy in this country. There will be only one party and no opposition. The opposition is being systematically crushed. This doesn't augur well for democracy. Let any party rule, but in the absence of a formidable opposition, the ruling party will do whatever it wants to. We are proceeding along those lines. It is a well planned game.
