Mangaluru: Athlete Venezeia Carlo seeks financial help to participate in Benchpress Championship

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, Jul 10: Venezeia A Carlo is an 18-year-old budding powerlifter of Dakshina Kannada. Constraints have denied her possibilities of participating in the 8th Commonwealth Classic and Equipped Powerlifting and Classic and Equipped Benchpress Championship, which is scheduled to be held at St John’s Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada from September 15 to 21.

After considering the performance of the lifters in the recently held National and International Powerlifting Championships and Federation Cup Powerlifting Championship, Power lifting India, a recognized body of Ministry of youth affairs and Sports, Government of India, finalized Venezeia’s name and sent her the confirmation letter and asked to remit Rs 2,40,000 as entry fee.

Venezeia has bagged a total of four bronze, two silver and five gold medals. She secured one bronze, one silver and a gold medal in Asian level championship. She has three gold medals and two silver medals in her kitty. She contested in the nation-level competitions, paying from her own resources.

Now, Commonwealth Classic and Equipped Powerlifting Championship has opened the gates to Venezeia. It is the reward for her hard work and remarkable performance in the recently held national and International championships. Now she eagerly awaits the Championship which is hosted in Canada. Being a second year BCom student at St Aloysius College, it is not affordable for her pay the entry fee and travel expenses. The sport of powerlifitng is more expensive. Her parents have spent many lacs for her training and qualifier championships and now they also are facing financial problems. They also want their daughter to participate in the event and seek financial assistance to realize her dream.

Let us all help to make this dream of Venezeia, a reality. Hoping, Venezeia A Carlo makes it to this mega event and goes through it, with excellence. Wishing her the best and generous financial aid from sports lovers.

So the govt expects the athelets to be trained out of their own pockets . Maintain all the necessary thing with difficulty and finally when they are capable enough to compete they have to bear the entry fee. She is representing the country not herself. How the country bears expenses for cricket players same way why not for other atheletes. And she has brought glory to the nation already still such situations.
This is actually ridiculous. They bear the pain of all the training and workout and later are left back cz of financial problems. And if she wins the credit goes to the govt for sending her but no1 the misery they face to reach there

Sincere request to dear mangaloreans. Kindly help our athelete as our govt is not capable of doing it . I insist each person atleast 100rs i dnt think thats going to affect anyones financial plannongs of the month. Those who can do more would be great . Domt think 100rs is small. If one person gives it is smal but when many people start helping that small ome also counts. The huge sea is made by tiny drops. Let us be those tiny drops but together we can have a wave of tiny drops which will evemtually fullfill the atheletes need. Let us together help this girl achieve her dreams and bring pride and glory to us and our nation.
Lets unite together and support her . I am sure we can help her make it.

instead of wasting money on elections that yield no results to the general public. it would be wiser to support this young budding athlete.

Entry fee of 2,40,000/-; isn't it a bit too steep? What all costs does it cover?
