Udupi, Jul 9: Adolf Reev Fernandes is elected as the president of Young Students Movement (YSM) of Udupi diocese for the year 2019-2020.

The YSM Udupi diocese level training programme and Central Council election were held recently at Don Bosco Hall, Udupi. The programme was inaugurated by Fr Edwin D’Souza, director of Youth Commission Centre, Udupi diocese.

The training session for office bearers was conducted by Norbert Misquith. An orientation about YSM was held for the students.The animators took part in the training conducted by Fr Edwin D'Souza. The training was followed by the election and the new YSM diocesan council office bearers are:

Vice President - Darren Dsouza - St John’s Academy, Shankerpura
Vice President - Nireeksha Alva - St Mary’s English Med School, Kannarpady
Secretary - Ashton Monteiro, Christ School, Manipal
Joint Secretary - Riya Pinto, Don Bosco School, Shirva
Treasurer - Janish Nazareth, St Joesph Eng Med School, Belman
Reporter – Vidya, Milagres Eng Med School, Kallianpura

John Castelino from St Lawrence High School, Moodubelle and Reshma Martis from Don Bosco School, Shirva were appointed as the diocesan animators of the movement.

The oath was administered to the new office bearers during the valedictory ceremony. National Youth coordinator Jesvita Quadras was the chief guest. Fr Edwin D’Souza and Norbert Misquith were present on the dais.

Animator John Castelino welcomed the gathering. Reshma Martis read the annual report. The newly elected president Adolf Reev Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks. During the occasion, outgoing council members as well as newly elected council members were felicitated.

About 28 school YSM units, consisting 183 students and animators from Udupi diocese took part in the event.
