Udupi: Over 10 dogs found dead in Manipal, poisoning suspected

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Jun 25: A large number of dogs were found lying dead near Mandavi Emerald building at Manipal near here on Tuesday June 25.

These dogs, numbering over ten, were killed by feeding them poison. The dogs could be seen struggling to stay alive, as the rain drenched and their bodies even as they winced.

The dogs perhaps were killed by someone who wanted to get rid of the street dog menace. It is felt that the dogs would have been offered with fish mixed with poison.

Animal lover Babita Madhwarj has registered a complaint about this incident at Manipal police station.

If Madam Babita have that much love and concern about those dogs, then she should have taken to her house and feed them. Every body loves animals but nobody ready to take care of street dogs.

Stray cats are better than stray dogs...atleast they kill some rats...and rats carry diseases and attract snakes. What do territorial stray dogs do besides attacking little children and carrying rabies?

    This our people's mentality.
They make a mountain (issue) out of a mole hill.
Animal activists are active when animals are ill treated and kambala events are taken place.

If Govt fails to take action. People will take action.

Now dog lovers may feel bad. Not animal lovers. Many rats will die everyday and their body falls on the road no photo no news comes.

I think India loves only dogs and cows.

when the administration of the respective area fails to take action on stray dogs, some city dweller might have done this for the safety and security of people.
The stray dog menace is too much in Bejai kapikad area, especially near baliga stores. People are bound to take action.
Feel sad for the way they were killed. But the life of human beings, especially children and elders are in danger because of these

I know people abandon puppies. . Needy people will take with them keep in their house. Some may be on the road roaming. They bite human beings. While coming at night they come across the road and responsible for humans death. Some dogs chase behind with 2 to 3 together and no way to run. Many people have dog bites. If you go and enquire in corporation office 50% names and addresses of dog biters you will get.
Many people started dog ashram. If interested some body can start in Mangalore and Udupi.

If dogs on the road risky for all. Not only for me and you.

Seriously? You think it's funny abandoning your pets on the road and justifying it by saying that "needy" people will adopt? So if you produce more children than planned, you will abandon them on the streets by saying "people without children will adopt"? That's absurd.

And don't give me that BS of dogs causing accidents and/or being dangerous. People encourage their children to pelt stones at dogs and get bitten in return, simple laws of nature. I have ridden my bike all over south India and have yet to get into an accident caused by dogs. My secret? Behave like a human being, not like a monster and everything will be fine.

Thank you so much. Glad to know that people still got a heart. I completely agree about kids who pelt stones and kick dogs. As a result, they get bit in return.

The man responsible to poison those poor animals should be punished severely.
