Mangaluru: Gold worth Rs 20.67 lac seized at airport, one held

Mangaluru, Jun 23: A man, who tried to smuggle gold through the international airport here in the city was arrested by the custom officials on June 22. 

The value of the confiscated gold from the passenger is said to be Rs 20.67 lac.

 

 

The passenger hid the said 24 carat pure gold in paste form inside his rectum. The weight of the said gold is 608 grams.

    Custom officials arrested a Nigerian for gold smuggling through Mangalore airport without realizing that the gold prices have peaked out and profit margins wiped off after commission to local Congress authorities.

    No doubt custom officials are alert and efficient . But unfortunately because of few smugglers all passengers have to suffer at Mangalore Airport. Passengers are treated like culprits from departure till Arrival. Aged passengers have to suffer a lot at rude Hindi speaking security personnel. I doubt even arrival luggage is purposely loaded late on the collection belt so as to earn from parking fee !. Prep- paid taxi mafia etc will soon make mangalore airport as least preferred airport. There is no more pleasure of flying from Mangalore Airport.

    Soon Mangalore airport is going to be managed by ADANI group. Just see how things will improve...Currently its managed by government, so all this issues.

    No, You are wrong jayesa. if the culprit is not from a particular community, the names will not be published. when there is no name , you should keep quite, saying " au namma jana maarre, swantha bangaara au, smuggling att"
