Beltangady: Lady reported missing comes back as newlywed

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Jun 22: Sonia Jesma Fonseka (22), a resident of Ballamanja in Machchina village in the taluk, who had disappeared after leaving home in the guise of visiting a tailoring shop on Thursday, June 20, surfaced on Friday, June 21. She said she has since got married.

On Thursday, she had left her home to visit a textile store at Madantyar and then to a tailoring shop. She had not returned home thereafter, neither had she contacted her family members. Her parents had filed a missing report in Punjalkatte police station. There were rumours of Sonia having eloped with the vice president of the local gram panchayat.

On Friday, Sonia presented herself in the police station along with Chandrashekhar Poojary, vice president of Machchina gram panchayat, who owns a fancy shop locally. Both of them said they had married each other at Mangaluru.

In the meantime, a complaint has been filed against six persons including the parents of Sonia in the said police station. They have been accused of visiting the home of local residents, Indira and Sundar Poojary, and using derogatory language against them and their family members relating to the said missing incident.

The only sensible comment with real concern. Hope the girls understand and take it into account. Thank you. I wonder when a girl cries so much at the time of bidding adieu what we call as "opsun divchen" how then she can run away and marry without the consent of parents and put them in misery? Isn't it too much nautanki by current generation girls? Can they be a good mother in the future when they themselves have not cared for their mother? Also, can we expect that kind nature which usually every mother has inbuilt with her from such generation? It's just a matter of time and she will realize her mistake like many have done and are regrating now.

Unnecessary tension to family members. The girl should have said to the parents thank you for raising her up and educating her to this day. At least respect for elders who protected her until she could decide on her own was needed from the girl. We wish them well irrespective of the irresponsibility and the pain she caused to her family.
This day and age this may be an exception, but here after, inter-religious marriages would be more common. Lets see how people react!

You are right, but, what to do ? Some people have no choice. Their wives do not allow them to live peacefully, and on and above that, keep karv chauth and do not allow them to die also.

What rubbish logic is that, you the see the photo and assume their match .... They find comfort in each other's company and spend the rest of life with each other is what necessary ....

@Frank tulunad Raja,Frank it is too late to see if they match together. They self had decided long back to get marry whether they match or not.Only have to hope they may stay together life long in good and bad times. Not that fast married and quickly divorced Last she has to go to her parents which she completely forgot and neglected in this point. It was not necessary to run and marry.Parents certainly wouldnt lay any stones on her way if she make them understand and ask blessings. There are so many inter religion marraiges are taking place with parents permission.Lets hope for good.

Mr Poojary did not wait until his girlfriend turned 40.

Has Ms Fonseka become Mrs Poojary?

Will Mr Poojary eventually become Mr Fonseka?

Hopefully dust will settle, and the couple will have a peaceful life.

What if they are more sensible, reasonable and practical in thinking than you?
They could very well live a happy long life without changing their religion, without heeding to petty talks of tiny brains like you.

    Mr Manglorean,
Your worry is understandable, you treat religion is foremost important in this universe, but we treat humanity and country.
This marriage is between two hearts, hence no cast or religion coming in between.
Most probably Mr Chandra may become Mr Fonseka.

Causing hurt to feelings of parents for sake of ones own interest is not appreciable.

    Poojarle,
Since the girl is Christian and boy is Poojary, you are very comfortable in saying what you want to say. If the match was opposite ( Girl Poojary and boy Parbul)then I am sure your tone would be different. Anyway, feel sorry for the girl's parents who has to undergo the pain. She should have taken their blessings before starting her new life as Mrs Chandra Poojary. Since, she is of very young age sea ahead might get rough for her to swim once love fever normalizes. Any way all the best for the couple.
