Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Jun 9: Rumours of fugitive Ravi Poojary escaping from Senegal in Africa is making rounds. However, senior police officials have still not confirmed the news.

It is said that Ravi Poojary who was in the custody of Senegal police was out on bail with regard to a case. Ravi apparently used the opportunity to flee, it is said. There is discussion in police circles too in this connection though senior police officials have refused to divulge the information.

Senegal’s local newspaper ‘Le Monde’ and a national Hindi news channel has reportedly broken the news. “The assistance of central government will be sought to know the veracity of the news. A clear picture will emerge only after it,” said a senior state level police official.

Legal processes for Poojary’s extradition from Senegal began on May 15. A senior criminal investigation department officer had said that the state police have put together enough evidences to be able to secure an order for his deportation into India. He exuded the confidence that the request for sending the fugitive back to India would be upheld by the court at Senegal. Ravi Poojary was claiming to be the citizen of another country and denied he is Ravi Poojary. He was arrested for possessing fake passport.
