Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (RJP)

Mangaluru, May 20: The city received pre-monsoon showers in the early hours of Monday, May 20. The rains continue. The weather is totally cloudy in city and surrounding areas.

The lightning and thunder began around late hours on Sunday night and continued after midnight. Few parts of city received mild rains after that. In some parts of the city, the rains began after 3 am.

While many parts of coastal districts received mild pre-monsoon showers in the past days, Mangaluru city had not received any except Yeyyadi-Padavinagady-Bondel belt. Prayers were offered by all religions for the rains last week.

After the water-rationing was introduced this month, the coast, especially the city, was facing acute shortage of drinking water.

As the cloudy weather continues, more rains are expected.
