Mangaluru: 'Not kidnapped, married of my own will' - Kalathur girl in video day after clash

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SB)

Mangaluru, May 14: The alleged abduction of a girl from Kalathur, Kerala that sparked group clashes in Bantwal on the night of Monday May 13 has taken a twist with the girl and the alleged 'kidnapper' releasing a video, apparently married and declaring that they tied the knot of their own will without any external force.

In the minute-long video, the boy introduces himself as Suprith (25) and says that he has been in love with the girl, Panchami (21), for the past seven years. "Our parents and relatives were opposed to our affair and rejected our wish to marry each other," he says.

Wanting to marry and live together despite their families' opposition, Suprith picked Panchami from her house in Kalathur, Kumble on Monday morning and eloped to Karnataka. On Tuesday May 14, they got married, says Suprith, asserting that no third person was involved, and that they had married of their own will.

In the video, Panchami says she is happy to be with Suprith and is facing no trouble from him. She states that she voluntarily eloped with Suprith as she loves him.

It is learnt that after getting married at Arya Samaj, Balmatta here, the couple made the video and sent to their family and friends to put all rumours about the alleged 'kidnapping' to rest.

It may be recalled that rumours had spead in Kalathur and Kumble that a 'minor' girl, the daughter of a school headmaster, had been 'kidnapped' by a youth of another community on Monday morning. A complaint was also lodged in Kumble police station by the girl's parents. Several locals started a search for the girl, and on receiving information that a white Bolero jeep had been used by the youth, they forcibly stopped several private vehicles at Uppala in the hope of finding the girl. In Bantwal's Vittal area too, some people who claimed to be the girl's relatives forcibly checked vehicles, and particularly chased a Bolero and waylaid it. As the situation grew tense, police came to the spot and used baton on the crowd to control the situation.

I find shame to the couple.why send video after the wedding ,but not coming personally and ask blessings from parents?First parents are worried ,not knowing what happened to the girl.Bravo.why is this ?Why should elope and get marry elsewhere? You could seek help from police if you wanted to marry.Afterall you both are adults :not minor.Parents too cant do anything. At the same time Parents too could agree to the marraige as both are from same faith.Instead fo eloping and making stress to police and home people, could marry queitely .Atleast come home when needed with police and ask blessings from parents from both sides.what have you planned for your future ,except eloping?Any job,a home , who will give compansations to vehicles demolished during search?Hope you both have a happy married life.

Here many have congratulated the newly wedded couple. One question always bothers me, if the similar situations happens to those here in this platform to their own children/family members, who have given a lot of advise and congratulated the couple, will they use the same language. Isn't it, we all are one way or other, double standard, hypocrites. Might very few might be honest.

Both belongs to the same belief and religion. Might be caste is different and every parents want the best for their children.
Guidance to the children by the parents should start from their childhood and parents should spend a lot of time with the children, at their tender age.

ask this girl her level of happiness after one year.. The answer would be a U turn. These days youngsters do not care the advise of their parents. They think the real life is like reel life where a person who does not hold a good job but looks good is okay to elope with.
Ghor Kaliyug. But I still wish the couple all the best and may my prediction go wrong and let them live happily hereafter.

The parents are crazy or what?? Simply blaming other community!! It can start riots in a place like this. Idiots.

When they know about the affair, what's the problem in marriage?? Because they disagreed the daughter eloped. What did they get from it? Why don't people open their narrow minds and accept such relationships...? Then they say she has spoilt their name! They spoilt their own name. Only stupid people have these shackles in their mind. In today's day and age also acting like tribals.

It means she fall in love while she is studying in ninth standard. As she belonged to affulent family of educated looks like girl not interested much in studies...eventhough her father is headmaster. For which we can only say karma of purva janma.

There are many girls around or boys who fall in love at this age but due to for sake of family members and for other reasons.they break up there relationships in middle itself. Such people eventhough stay separately can love and respect vanish from them. Love is nothing but understanding between two souls at any circumstances.

Here girl is giving dhamki to family members if done something wrong she is going to commit suicide. Did she ever thought by eloping her parents already died due to shame while living in society.

Childrens should not only look of themselves but of also family members. Otherwise it is called a selfish nature. Person who is having sacrufical nature always win the race. God bless couple.

The parents created the rumour that the girl has been kidnapped by " Other Community". If our Police has any sense of justice they should be booked for creating false rumours. Also those jobless chaddis looking for private vehicles to catch the alleged kidnapper shall be booked and thrown in jail. Do we have law in this country or we are a banana republic?
