Mangaluru, Apr 20: Congress spokesperson A C Vinayaraj said on Saturday, April 20 condemned BJP and said that the party has shown its stand on terrorism by fielding Pragya Singh Thakur at Bhopal constituency.

Addressing media, Vinayaraj said, “We strongly condemn the controversial statement made by Pragya Singh Thakur on Hemanth Karkare. She is an accused in the Malegoan blast case. BJP which speaks about nationalism has shown its stand on terrorism by fielding her in the Lok Sabha polls from Bhopal constituency.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi or any other BJP leaders did not utter a single word on her controversial remarks which is equal to defending terrorist Ajmal Kasab. If Prime Minister Modi respects martyrs, action needs to be taken against Pragya Singh Thakur.

“If a terror accused is made an MP, then would it be possible to control terrorism in this country? Can we expect good administration?” he questioned.

On Pragya Singh Thakur’s apology, Vinayaraj said, “BJP which speaks about nationalism is silent on her remarks. What kind of message is the BJP trying to deliver? Are they hatching a conspiracy in Bhopal?”

Congress leaders Sadashiv Ullal, Mahabala Marla, Neeraj Pal and others were present.

If you are looking for the personification of the words 'secular' and 'patriot' in one single individual, you need not look further than Hemant Karkare, the former chief of Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), who died fighting Pakistani terrorists on the night of 26/11.

Earlier, Karkare had been investigating the Malegaon blasts of September 2008 in which he had uncovered incontrovertible proof of the complicity of Pragya Singh Thakur, who the BJP has now nominated as its party candidate from Bhopal against Digvijaya Singh of the Congress.

But despite the best efforts of the National Investigation Agency, which unsuccessfully tried to persuade public prosecutor Domini Salian to water down the case against Thakur and others (she refused), at the behest of the Modi government at the Centre, Thakur continues to face charges under UAPA in the Malegaon blasts case. The presiding judge, too, apart from Salian and Karkare, has found too much undeniable evidence against her to dismiss the case.

As the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi had awarded a compensation of Rs one crore to his widow Kavita Karkare who turned down the amount on the ground that her husband had died fighting for the nation and that his martyrdom came without a price tag.

The night of 26/11 still haunts Mumbai's people and they know the streets are safe today because of brave soldiers like Karkare, Ashok Kamte, Omble and Vijay Salaskar, all exemplary police officers throughout their careers, who died so that people may sleep at night in peace.

Modi and the BJP might now have to answer why Kavita Karkare was being sought to be compensated for her husband's death if he was not considered a martyr who had died in the cause of the nation. And if indeed Modi then considered him a patriot, why is Pragya Thakur now labeling him as a traitor to the nation's cause and claiming that her curse claimed his life?

    BJP takes credit on Pulwama.
    Supports Saffron terror of Malegaon.

The late Hemant Karkare was a national hero who laid down his life fighting the terrorists and this anti national wicked Sadhwi has no moral right to comment on him. Her rightful place is inside the jail and it is a sad and deplorable commentary on Modi or whoever has given her the ticket to contest the elections. When the BJP gives tickets to people like Sadhwi, Yogi, Anant Hegde or that fellow from Mysore - I forget his name - and God forbid, if such people get elected, I shudder to think what will befall this country. It was such a lovely, peaceful and beautiful country where there was no hatred towards one another. There was camaraderie all around. Look what these anti nationals have done to this great nation. In their quest for power, they are going to reduce this country to another Pakistan or Afghanistan.

If other parties had fielded this terrorist accused person, Feku Maharaj would have called them anti nationalists and terrorists with both his arms up in the air. Now he is defending her and justifying ,saying that it will hit congress hard. He is prepared to work with such people if they can win some seats for him. Where is the moral standards in that.
