Mangaluru: 4-day exhibition by Alia Orchid Care begins at Kadri Park

Mangaluru, Apr 13: Scientist and professor, laboratory of applied biology and former principal of St Aloysius College, Dr Leo D’Souza inaugurated 4-day orchid exhibition cum sale at Kadri Park on Saturday,  April 13.

The exhibition is organised by Alia Orchid Care and is held from April 13 to 16.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Leo D Souza said, "Today we have inaugurated the 4-day orchid exhibition cum sale at Kadri Park. Earlier, people of Mangaluru did not know about orchid. Now the people are aware about the value of orchid. Proprietor of Alia Orchid Care Queeni Lasrado has put an effort to introduce orchid in Mangaluru, as she is fond of it and also want people to love orchid.”



 Exhibition aims to showcase the orchid hybrids and species that can be grown successfully in the local temperature. A session on methods of growing orchids will be held from April 14 to 16. In addition to training in growing orchids, training on growing anthuriums and adeniums will also be held.

The exhibition aims to encourage organic methods of cultivation and preparing organic nutrients, to protect the eco system.

The exhibition will sell various varieties of orchids, dwarf anthuriums and multi petal rosy adeniums at low prices. There will be around 500 orchids and 1000 anthurium plants and about 500 adenium plants at the expo.

Alia Orchid Care is a registered horticultural firm under the horticultural department of Karnataka since 2013. The theme of the exhibition is peacock and is decorated using more than 1200 orchids. Unique design clay pots, designed by traditional clay potters from Kanyakumari are used for the floral decorations.

Proprietor of Alia Orchid care Queeni Lasrado was also present.
