Mumbai: Kala Jagathu celebrates 40th anniversary

Mumbai, Apr 8: Kala Jagathu, well known in dramatics in the city on April 7 celebrated its 40th anniversary at Bantara Bhavan here.

Karnataka Rajyotsava awardee, Issar Financial Services Private Limited managing director Dr R K Shetty, chief guest, lit the lamp and set the celebrations in motion.

Guests of honour, veteran social worker Padmanabha Shetty, Raviraj Shetty Kalian, Suresh Shetty Ambarnath, Jagadish Shetty, Sadashjiv Shetty Havanje, Jaya Shetty Chembur, Nilesh Shettigar, Raghu P Shetty, Krishna Shetty Andheri, Shakuntala K Kotian presented a diadem to Dr R K Shetty and honoured him.



Dr R K Shetty said that it is a surprising honor to him and commended Kala Jagathu for encouraging several artistes.

Kala Jagathu celebrated Tulu Parba. Selected scenes of various dramas performed by it over the last forty years were shown. Pattanaje tulu film and Kallatana skit were also shown.

P D Shetty, Prathwiraj Shetty Mundkoor, Bhasker Sarapady, Lawrence D’Souza Kemmannu and others were on the dais.

Dr Thonse Vijayakumar welcomed the gathering and delivered the keynote address. Dayasagar Chowta compered the programme. Dr Surendra Kumar Hegde proposed a vote of thanks.
