Bengaluru, Apr 7: A programme had been organised at Poornaprajna Vidyapeeta where well-known social activist and orator, Chakravarthy Sulibele, was to address the gathering. However, several Congress activists raised pro-Rahul slogans at the venue and raised objections, after which Sulibele had to return without delivering his address.

Chakravarthy Sulibele had arrived at the said institution to seek votes for BJP candidate, Tejasvi Surya. Just as he was beginning to speak, Congress workers arrived and started raising pro-Rahul slogans. In response, some of the BJP supporters at the programme raised pro-Modi slogans. Sulibele however asked them not to shout slogans, saying that it was not a political programme.

The organizers too intervened asserting that it was a prayer meet and requested supporters not to shout any slogan, but in vain. As the situation turned tense at that time, the police intervened and controlled it.

Congress workers questioned Sulibele on committing a violation of election code of conduct by choosing to seek votes at the Vidyapeeta, a prayer centre. He however insisted that he was there to speak about the nation and not about any candidate.

Election observers also reached the spot. They told Sulibele that there is no provision to seek votes within temple premises. They also told the organisers that the people who had gathered there can just go away after praying to the deity. Therefore Sulibele was then compelled to return without delivering the address.
