Bengaluru: Past comes back to haunt BJP candidate Tejasvi Surya as Congress files two complaints

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (DC)

Bengaluru, Mar 29: The Congress unit of Bengaluru North has lodged a complaint with the state election commission officers against Bengaluru South Lok Sabha candidate Tejasvi Surya.

The complaint was registered against the BJP candidate condemning the latter's statement that those who oppose Prime Minister Narendra Modi were 'anti-India'. In his fiery speech, given at a programme before his nomination, Surya had said, "This election is a test of the common India's patriotism. And if you are with Modi, you are with India. And if you are not with Modi, you are anti-India. That's it." The video of the speech went viral on social media drawing both flak as well as praise.

In the complaint, the Congress stated that by giving such a statement, being a candidate of a national party, he was attempting to threaten and influence the electorate. The Congress has also asked the election officers to disqualify him from contesting the election and take a strict action.

Meanwhile, Congress women's wing president Dr B Pushpa Amarnath too has lodged a complaint with the state women's commission against Surya.

In the complaint, the Congress leader urged the commission to provide security to the woman, who, in a number of tweets, charged Tejasvi with abusing and hitting women besides being a womaniser. The woman had also asked the people whether they would blindly support such a man.

In the complaint, Congress leaders stated that the woman had made serious allegations against Tejasvi that he had harassed and cheated several other women too.

The complaint further stated that since Tejasvi is a relative of BJP MLA Ravi Subramanya and has outside support of bigwigs of the party at the centre, the woman is facing threat to life.

It is understood that the woman has now deleted her tweets allegedly fearing threat to life. Hence the women's commission must provide security to her, the complaint stated.

Considering media reports and tweets of the woman regarding BJP candidate's harassment, the women’s commission must take action against Tejasvi and provide security to the woman, the Congress urged in the complaint.

Under Article 51A, Part IV-A of the Constitution of India. These 11 fundamental duties are as follows:

To oblige with the Indian Constitution and respect the National Anthem and Flag.
To cherish and follow the noble ideas that inspired the national struggle for freedom.
To protect the integrity, sovereignty, and unity of India.
To defend the country and perform national services if and when the country requires.
To promote the spirit of harmony and brotherhood amongst all people of India and renounce any practices that are derogatory to women.
To cherish and preserve the rich national heritage of our composite culture.
To protect and improve the natural environment including lakes, wildlife, rivers, forests, etc.
To develop scientific temper, humanism, and spirit of inquiry.
    To safeguard all public property.
To strive towards excellence in all genres of individual and collective activities.
The 11th fundamental duty which was added to this list is:

To provide opportunities for education to the children between 6-14 years of age, and parents to ensure that such opportunities are being awarded to their child.

We the nation should bring a new law to end BJP and Sangh Parivar misusing any Indian being labeled 'Anti-National' or threat of sending to Pakistan.

BJP candidate Tejasvi Surya violated Article 51A in The Constitution Of India 1949.

How can this Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh lawyer BJP candidate can label the entire nation who is not with PM Modi 'Anti-national'.

The Bangaloreans demand Election Commission to disqualify this candidate.

If Tejasvi Surya respects this nation let him chant Mahatma Gandhi 'Zindabad'. Naturam Godse 'Murdabad'.
    Jai Hind

This shows how much the congress supports the youth. Past is past. There are so many leaders in congress who are worst than him. Why not give this young chap a chance instead of blaming him for no reason. If this continues, a youth like me would never like to contribute to the society as they always critiseze and never appreciate the good work. Guys please get out of congress and BJP. Please think about India.

Hate brigadiers and dictatorial attitudes people and human rights abusers have no role to play in democracy.
Such persons, be they from any party or community, must be thoroughly exposed and discouraged for survival of democracy and civil society.
Every one must excercise their rights and responsibilities in the society.
