Mangaluru Mar 25: Mithun Rai filed his nomination from Congress for the upcoming Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha elections at deputy commissioner’s office on Monday, March 25.

Before that, Rai visited Rosario Cathedral, Kudroli temple and Ullal Dargah and participated in Congress convention held at Town Hall. Later Rai went in procession to file his nomination.

Speaking during the convention, senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary said," I am confident that Mithun Rai will win the election. If Mithun Rai faces defeat, then I will stop going to temples, mosques and churches,”

District in-charge minister U T Khader said, "Time has come to make Mithun Rai our MP and defeat our inactive MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. Mithun Rai is a youth icon and we should make him victorious and make Rahul Gandhi as our Prime Minister. No eye can witness any proper work executed by our MP in the last 10 years,”

"We urge BJP to face direct election instead of spreading false messages in social media. We are not left wing or right wing but we are straight wing,”

Congress candidate Mithun Rai said," Right now I am very emotional and short of words. I am always grateful to the people who blessed me and made me to reach this height. Leaders of Congress including Ramanath Rai, U T Khader and others took me to Delhi and recommended my name as a youth icon to contest in the upcoming elections. This district is my house and people are like my family. I will not do any work that will embarrass the people of the district. Mithun Rai has not stood for elections but voice of youth has stood for elections. We have given opportunity to BJP in the last 25 years. Give me one opportunity. I will try my best to stop Vijaya Bank merger and make sure jobs are created for the youth. I urge all the party representatives to work for me for the next 25 days. And for the next five years I will work for you,”

From Town Hall, along with Congress leaders, Mithun Rai took out a procession to DC office to file nomination

MLC Ivan D Souza, former minister Ramanath Rai, former MLAs J R Lobo, Moideen Bawa, Shakunthala Shetty, JDS leader Amarnath Shetty, district JDS president Mohammed Kunhi and others were present.

Last 5 years there were no major riots at all. No terrorist attacks on civilians. Media had to report on one off incidents since riots were completely absent and there was nothing major to report..Sure Modi deserves a second term...

It's time we put an end to 28 years of suffering and non performance. It is refreshing to see Mithun promise to work himself and, unlike someone else, not ask people to vote blindly in the name of "modiji" or party (only to end up relaxing at home doing no work because people will vote his party anyway). Also, it's time the most literate district in karnataka voted an educated, enlightened candidate who doesn't threaten to set his own constituency on fire. All the best, Mr. Rai. Shekar, many of us clearly said we don't vote for the party but for the development. Why last time Nalin sir didn't win? Which party he belongs to? Mithun Rai might look like giving a tough fight to Nalin as he is young, fresh and promising.

But you need a good ground network with workers to win MP election. BJP has a strong worker based network in DK constituency with RSS and other organisations supporting it which they can convert into votes easily. This is one of the reason, BJP is winning consecutively in this constituency.

I am not sure whether congress can activate its support base in a short time and convert it into votes.

We will have to wait and see.

Seeing the amount of support for Mr. Mithun while filing the nomination. I don't think he will give much fight to Mr. Nalin in elections.
I was personally present when Mr. Mithun had gone for filing the nomination.
All the leaders faces where tense.
We want a change in Mlore but to change the cowdung filled mind of Mangaloreans is difficult.
If Modi comes this time too, then it will be difficult for any party to come to power for another 30yrs. I guess.

Difficult for Congress to win from DK constituency by the support shown by the PPL today while filing the nomination

With grand failures of PM Modi BJP is suffering already. MP Nalin just added some more spice to that. In all it is no hope for BJP in Mangaluru, this time.

Mithun Rai candidature, just made a bit more hard for BJP where they can not ask votes in the name of Hindutva or Vikas. After shelling out more even for Cable or TV channels people used to watch, now they feel the pinch of voting Modi to power.
