Udupi, Mar 23: T J Abraham, social activist and president of Karnataka Anti-Graft and Environmental Forum came to the city on Saturday, March 23 to attend the hearing of the defamation case that was filed by former minister Pramod Madhwaraj on him.
Abraham said, “Pramod Madhwaraj had obtained a loan of Rs 193 crore from Syndicate Bank, Malpe branch by pledging records of property worth just Rs 1.1 crore.’
Abraham challenged the former minister and said, “Pramod Madhwaraj will lose his deposit in the Lok Sabha election. I have taken this issue personally and I will not allow him to win. I will not allow him to enter parliament. I am ready to speak in any public meeting against Pramod, if I am invited. Pramod did not dare to file a case in civil court. He knew that, he has to pay for it. If he is using the law and order for his personal benefits, then why should I not use this weapon? I am using the election process against him.
“He filed criminal case against me, without spending a single rupee. To avoid the financial burden, he filed a criminal case. Pramod filed IPC 499 section on me. Court has given a last chance to him. The next hearing will be held on May 4, 2019. This is the last call for him to attend the court. If he is not a convict really, let him face the court. He did not come, that means he agrees to my allegation. I came here eight to 11 times to attend the court hearing, but he did not come even once.
“I am doing it for public good and he is using law and order for his personal interest. He is misusing the court and abusing the law. I am coming from Bengaluru, but though he is living in Udupi, he is not attending the court. If he is harassing me like this, it is considered as violation of human rights.
“Soon after the last hearing, I am going to file a private complaint against him in the court. I will come back within a week. I have made all the required preparations. I was making all preparations since February and I will make him stand as an accused,” he said.
