Udupi: RTO Varnekar caught red-handed while receiving bribe

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (UM)

Udupi, Mar 16: Regional transport officer (RTO) R M Varnekar was caught red-handed while receiving bribe from a car owner here on Saturday, March 16.

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) from Bengaluru conducted the raid.

As per initial information available, a car owner named Vignesh, whose car was burnt down in a fire incident during air show in Bengaluru recently, had applied for documents from the district transport office. RTO Varnekar allegedly demanded money to issue the required documents.

The ACB received the complaint from the car owner and when Varnekar was receiving Rs 10,000 on Saturday, caught him red-handed.

Investigation is going on. More details are awaited.

I wish similar reporting is done in Mangalore also. If any RTO official asks for bribe, trap him and show him the door.
The height of RTO officials is, openly the agents and touts are allowed to do their business faster while common man has to run from pillar to post to do simple work. Even forms are not available in RTO and the Xerox person outside is making money on the forms. Although it is small amount, RTO does not bother to provide forms because probably they get their share from Xerox persons.

The agents and touts have free access inside RTO office while genuine customer has to wait for his turn.

Suppose, the corrupt officer now declare the political party to which he belongs, 50 percent of the same commenters will start posting Victim Card, as he belongs to their Party ! That's why corruption has flourished in this country, under the patronage of Political System.

Sir: I disagree. The politicians are elected by people/voters in a free electoral sytems in India. So society itself has to take lots of responsibility for the ills. Look at tge crass behaviour of individuals as example. Eg . Why do drivers drink and drive carelessly, and cayuse accidents?

One of the most corrupt organisation and it is a disgrace that we have these kind of senior officials in the service of public. If proved of accepting the bribe this RTO needs to be dismissed from service and all his ill-gotten wealth to be confiscated. But question is who will do that in our top to bottom corrupt system..!!!!!
