Lok Sabha polls: Karnataka deal sealed - Congress to contest from 20 seats, JD(S) gets 8

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Mar 13: After days of suspense over seat sharing between Karnataka coalition partners for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress and the JD(S) on Wednesday March 13 finalised the numbers.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi and JD(S) national secretary Danish Ali held talks in Kochi in Kerala to discuss the seat-sharing arrangement.

Karnataka has a total of 28 Lok Sabha seats.

Following the talks, the Congress has decided to contest in 20 constituencies in Karnataka while JD(S) will contest in remaining 8 constituencies.

As per the deal, JD(S) will contest from Uttara Kannada, Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Hassan, Mandya, Bengaluru North and Vijayapura.

Sources said that former CM Siddaramaiah wanted Congress to keep the Mysuru seat for itself, and managed to have his way. Siddaramaiah however has stated that he would not be contesting the polls, despite pressure from some of his party colleagues to do so.

The Lok Sabha elections will be held from April 11 in seven phases. In Karnataka, the polling will be held on April 18 and 23. The results will be out on May 23.

Dear Mr. Bhandarkar, not sure why you are more interested in Congress internal issues, being you are a hard core Modi Bhakt (brainless) should keep you suggestions, guidance and comments only for Modi related articles (not even BJP, because Modi is not BJP).

Mandya seat will goes to Independent candidate Sumalatha with support of Congress and JDS.
Hassan goes to BJP. A manju from BJP will win this seat.
Only JDS will win Bangalore North.
JDS Congress combination will win only 11 seats...

Noe days its very tricky to the understand the mentality of the political party. Very well politics played by Congress and JDS. If Shobha get the ticket from BJP then JPH from JDS.JDS is not in the picture here in UDupi and Chikmangalore still they go the seat.
If there is JPH from BJP then winning margin will be like 4 lakhs.

The hungry for power ,congress is figging their own grave in Karnataka. They are the slaves JDS

Don't count BLR North and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, as it's a tight seat. JDS has considerable support in Bengaluru (4-5 MLA seats are Congress/JDS) and Chikkamagaluru might spring a surprise specially Sringeri, Mudigere etc.

As far blr north is concerned it wont be easy for gowda. As most of mlas like byrati brothers, st somesekhar are all loyal to siddu and are waiting for payback. Moreover assembly elections and ls are totally different.Everytime Jds gets around 18% vs in assembly whereas they get only about 8% in loksabha elections. Gowda banking on vokkaliga votes but caste politics wont work much in seats like blr. And chikamagalur is a walkover and bjp might win big.

No Congress in Udupi- Mangalore???? Congress supporters are fed up by voting to Congress and losing almost every time. Udupi is headquarter of Hindutva,, BJP will win easily. JDS simply can give a walkover.

May be Cong felt they cant win there coz of hindutva politics so y not give it to jds to complete quota of 8. Just like vijayapura, uttara kannada where jds presence is almost NIL.

Maybe Cong is banking on Chikmagaluru undecided voters to swing toward JD(S). but real good candidates like Madhwaraj and Amrith Shenoy from Udupi might lose out here.
On a positive side, why not have Pramod Madhwaraj stand from UK or DK?

To keep the communal party out JDS will win for sure in Udupi Chikamagaluru seat. Voters are not fools. They had enough from last 5 years Shobha's service to the constituency. But andh bhakts won't agree but achhe din aanewale hien.
