Mangaluru: Final list of voters of DK for upcoming LS elections released

Mangaluru, Jan 16: The final voters' list of Dakshina Kannada (DK) district for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was released at Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday, January 16.

Addressing the media, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said, "As of January 1, 2019, there are 16,97,417 voters in the final voters' list, out of which 8,33,719 are males and 8,63,698 are females. During the special drive conducted in the month of November,2018 as many as 5,164 people have applied for inclusion of their names in the voters' list, 3,783 have applied for deletion, 1,688 have applied for changes in the voter ID and 27 have applied for transposition of entry in electoral roll."

"During the last election, there were 1,790 polling stations but it was rationalized and an additional 71 new polling stations were added. At present, there are 1861 polling stations in the district. On January 25, National Voters' Day will be observed at Town Hall. During this programme, symbolically voter ID will be given to young voters (first time voters). Remaining IDs will be given through booth level officers," said Sasikanth Senthil.

The Deputy Commissioner further said, “21,292 young voters (first time voters) from all the eight constituencies are included in the electoral list. Those who have not been included in the voters’ list have ample time to get the same included until the election is declared,"

“During the assembly elections there were 16,98,868 voters. This time around as of January 1, 2019, there are 16, 97,417 voters. There is a marginal reduction in the numbers compared to the last elections," concluded Senthil.

Additional deputy commissioner Kumar was also present.

    I would say there are many candidates from the Congress. Mithun Rai or why not Moiuddin Bava? I think Bava deserves to go to Delhi to represent Dakshina Kannada.
