Mangaluru: Police raid illegal gambling den, 21 arrested

Mangaluru, Jan 14: City Crime Branch (CCB) police team on a tip off raided in the leadership of PSI Kabbal Raj Adyar Hills homestay owned by Adyar village resident Suresh Shetty and arrested a group of 21 people who were indulging in ‘Andar Bahar’.

The arrested suspects are identified as Melvyn Vishwas D’ Souza, Sharath Kumar, Guruprasad, Raja, Mohammed Hanif, Shivaraj, Anwar, Adarsh, Radhakrishna Nair, Arvin D’ Souza, Mahadevappa, Kumarnath Shetty, Alwyn Richard, Ganesh V S, Preetham alias Prashanth, A B Basheer, Savan, Nithin D’ Souza, Abid Hussain, Denzil Vixon D’ Souza and Mohammed Hanif.

Police have confiscated Rs 18,37,000, eight cars, one auto-rickshaw and 24 mobile sets collectively worth Rs 86,47,700 from the arrested.

Home stay owner Suresh Shetty is absconding. A case registered in Kankanady police station in this connection is under investigation. The arrested and the valuables confiscated from them have been presented in the court.

    Thanks to poor law and order in DK under Coalition govt. Both Cheddiless and JDS failed to maintain law and order situation in DK. DK is the most neglected district in Karnataka, only used as vote bank during an election.

    Percentagewise these minorites spoiling environment. People who indulge in this from particular community are much more than people from majority community. Why religious leaders not intervene and teach them these people from minorites how to behave in the society and obtain money through right process.
