Karkala: Bolero falls into river from bridge - Diana (45) dies, three rescued

Daijiworld Media Network - Karkala (SP)

Karkala, Jan 12: Members of a family who had left to attend a marriage in a Mahindra Bolero vehicle faced peril after the vehicle jumped head on into the river from the bridge. One of the occupants of the vehicle, identified as Diana Mascarenhas (45) from Bola village, lost her life.

Stany Mascarenhas from Padavu in Bola village, Karkala taluk, had left to attend a marriage function along with family in Mangaluru. He was accompanied by wife, Diana, and children, Shelden and Arman, in the vehicle. The vehicle they were in fell into River Shambhavi when crossing the bridge near Sankalakariya.

The locals who saw the vehicle plunging into the river immediately jumped into the river and rescued three persons. However, Diana had breathed her last before she could be helped out by the rescuers.

My heartfelt condolences, According to reports she could not be saved because of lied seat belts. During time of accidents victims could not be saved because they were stuck between seats and other parts of the vehicle along with seat belts. In bikes/two wheelers no seat belt rule, in buses/trucks no seat belt rule, in trains no seat belt rule, In planes seat belt rule is there because it flies in the air, IN CARS WHO BROUGHT THIS COMPULSORY SEAT BELT RULE ?

It should be compulsory to wear seat belt for both, driver and co passenger who sits next to the driver in the front row. I supports this rule as I do drive. Unfortunately, here Diana many not be knowing how to untie her seat belt or the vehicle when fallen down from the bridge to the river, it might have tilted in her side; she might be got wounded internally.

Always when one wear the seat belt, should be trained how to untie the seat belt too. Our people knows theory more than practical. Sorry to write this, in this platform.

Husband lost his wife and children lost their Mother within no time, without any clue when they were very happy. Its very paining incident. She entered Mascarenhas family as a bride with all the ornaments and red Saado and left this World also in the same way, may be God's wish. May the love and mercy of our Lord be bestowed upon this family during this unfortunate time and may the departed soul of this pretty woman Diana rest in peace. Hats off to the villagers who tried to save them by extending timely help.

    Sad incident - R.I.P.
Big salute to the local heroes who have saved three lives.
Politics may divide us but the spirit of being Indian makes us to be together.
Many a times the locals stand as real heroes in rendering their first aid to those who are in danger and sometime risking their own life. Especially the mogaveera community is well known in such circumstances.
