Udupi, Dec 14: Paryaya Palimar Vidyadheesha Swamiji has taken a bold and revolutionary decision and bid good bye to Made Snana and Ede Snana that used to be performed in front of Subramanya shrine during the current Shashti festival.

Only a few devotees have performed Uruluseve. Ede Snana was being performed as per suggestions from Pejawar Swamiji for the last four years. The number of devotees had decreased even then.

Palimar Vidyadheesha Swamiji said that the decision is taken to avoid controversy. “Many people do not like those customs. Prasada will be distributed in the dining room of Sri Krishna Math,” he said.

Pejawar Swamiji has welcomed the decision of Palimar Swamiji. If there is opposition in the name of religion, there can be friction. “Made Snana and Ede Snana in temple are not inevitable. There is no harm for Hindu religion because of that. The number of people coming for Ede Snana is decreasing. We do not want the custom that gives rise to friction. It is sufficient if the festival is performed as per religious teachings,” he said.
