Bantwal: Congress, BJP engage in verbal duel during Indira Canteen inauguration

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Dec 9: Indira Canteen in the town which had already entagled in many controversies was witness to a heated verbal duel between two major political parties during its inauguration.

During the inaugural event on Sunday, December 9, peoples representatives from both BJP and Congress exchanged words and even went to the extent of slight physical push and nudge. Chandrashekhar, sub-inspector of town police station had written a letter to tahsildar urging that the inauguration should be done in accordance with the protocol as there is a chance of clash.

The leaders of BJP party had complained to the police through the tahsildar that former minister B Ramanath Rai should not attend the function. This move of BJP was questioned by the Congress leaders, which led to the verbal duel among the leaders as well as their supporters.

During the inauguration of the canteen by incharge minister U T Khader, this issue went out of control to the extent of pushing and nudging between the local MLA and a member of zilla panchayat. As this took place in the presence of MP, ministers and officials, Rajesh Naik, MLA from BJP staged a walkout accusing that clash is creted during a government function.

Supporters of both Congress and BJP condemned the leaders of the rival parties. A tense situation prevailed for sometime on the spot. Later due to the mediation of police it was brought under control.

U T Khader regrets the incident

In charge minister, U T Khader gave a statement regarding the unruly scenes that were observed during the inauguration of the India canteen in the town and said, "This programme should have happened in unity. Some particular group has instigated the unruly behaviour. I sincerely ask apologies from the people of Dakshina Kannada district. These kinds of minor issues take place. Let us not blow it out of proportion. I regret the same."

Indira Canteens, launched in August 2017, and established in all 197 wards of the city of Bangalore, has emerged as the welfare symbol of Siddaramaiah government, providing clean, nourishing vegetarian food.
In 2018 assembly election BJP also promised to set up 'Mukhya Mantri Annapoorna Canteens' renaming on the lines of existing Indira Canteen.
The BJP which lost the state ruling seat is not happy with the welfare of the people. The attitude of the leaders its party leaders shows that they just want votes rather than constitutional rights for food.
Though it may be the brainchild of 'Amma Canteen', the Congress government under former CM Siddarmaiah it is helping the all section of the society who budget is limited.
If BJP comes to power this Canteen will stop serving the poor who are benefited the lot.
I request ruling Coalition to inaugurate the Kundapura 'Indira Canteen' which has been postponed thrice.

Note the gestures and attitude of District in Charge Minister in the caption photos. He is unfit to be a Minister and do not qualify by standards and etiquette to represent a cultural district like DK. Then he is asking apologies to society as if he is the lone caretaker for the entire district and nothing will move forward in his absence. Megalomannia....! Classic example of leaders growing taller than the people they represent.

Look at the picture properly without any prejudice-
U T Khader is pacifying local MLA by placing his hand on his shoulder & not fighting with him.
Those people who had prevented its construction with frivolous issues want the credit now.
Ramanath Rai would have inaugurated this project if elections didn't prevent him earlier, Now who would take credit for the Drinking Water Project he initiated & 90% complete before elections? Who wants to cut the tape & claim he did it by finishing the last 10%, like our PM always does & mocks UPA for not completing the project which went very slow during his tenure?

BJP always as usual jealous and gets unsettled by Congress's development and people friendly projects. Unfortunately now there is no chance for BJP to come power and even in throughout India prospects of BJP coming to power are very very minimum. More BJP does these kind of mischief it will push BJP more into abyss. No chance for BJP even to copy this project and get undue credit.
