Doha: Q S TEC lifts trophy at first Zaffran Café Cricket Tournament

Doha, Dec 5: Qatar Solar Technologies (QS TEC) defeated Serandeep-B by 27 runs to clinch its maiden title at the first Zaffran Café Cricket Tournament 2018, organized by Qatar Veterans Cricket League at the Losail Cricket Complex.

Winning the toss, QS TEC elected to bat first. QS Tec Openers did not have a good start. Bhargav was out stumped by Ranga off Akalanka in the first over. Sameer came as first down and made quickfire 26 runs in 12 balls with 3 sixes and one boundary. Bandulla who bowled the fourth over, dismissed Sameer (26 runs) and Jameel for a duck on successive deliveries. Later Sanjay was run out for 3 runs, Ramzan for a single, Kamaran for 3 runs and Kazi for a single leaving QS Tec tottering at 45 runs for 8 wickets after completion of 9 overs. Later some quickfire 33 runs with 3 sixes and 3 boundaries from Zahir and a patient innings from Haleem (28 runs in 28 balls with 3 sixes and 1 boundary) helped QS Tec to reach a defendable total of 130 runs in 20 overs. For Serandeep-B, Bandula took 2 wickets for 17 runs, Indika
took 2 wickets for 14 runs, Tharanga took 2 wickets for 12 runs while Akalanka took a wicket.



In reply, Even Serandeep-B did not have a good start. They lost 5 wickets in the first 6 overs of powerplay. Kazi took three wickets and Zahir took 2 wickets. Thereafter, Serendeep-B kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Chanaka was the major contributor with 30 runs off 18 deliveries. Bandulla (15 runs) and Milan (15 runs) were others who contributed with the bat. Finally, Serandeep-B was all out at 103 runs and lost by 27 runs in 17.4 overs.

For QS Tec, Kazi took 3 wickets for 17 runs, Zahir took 2 wickets for 8 runs, Haleem took 2 wickets for 12 runs, Jameel, Samir and Bhargav took a wicket each.

For his all-round performance, Zahir was adjusted as Man of the Finals.

Best allrounder – Fauzan of QS Tec
Best wicketkeeper – Sanjay of QS Tec

At the prize distribution ceremony, the chief guest Siddiq Fahad, business development manager OF Zaffran Café distributed the winners, runners up trophies and over 300 prizes.

The prize distribution ceremony attended by supporters and well-wishers ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for all the spectators.
