Speaking to mediapersons, Khader said, “For the first time in the history of India, a policy for the installation of mobile and other towers is drafted in Karnataka. Within three months of the issuance of the notification of this policy, all the tower owners have to follow the rules compulsorily. If not, the licences of the towers will be cancelled.”

Giving the details of the policy, Khader said, "According to the new policy, a fee of Rs one lac under BBMP limits, Rs 50,000 under city corporation limits, Rs 35,000 under corporation limits, Rs 25,000 under city municipality limits, Rs 20,000 under town municipality limits and Rs 10,000 under gram panchayat limits needs to be paid. Movable towers also come under the limits of this policy,"

"These towers should be at a minimum distance of 50 meters from schools, hospitals and places of worship. Silent generator needs to be installed. The towers which are already existing also have to implement all the rules mentioned in the policy. Before installing these towers on the house or buildings a certificate needs to be issued by the structural engineer with regards to the strength of that particular building."

Everybody wants good coverage, but nobody likes towers. Next generation towers are secrete radiators. All are installed indoor and camouflaged, because 4G and beyond works more on small cells. Keeping technology aside , people also forget that Mobile phone radiation is more dangerous than tower since it is very close to human body and concentration of radiation is high, whereas the tower radiation dilutes in atmosphere.

Mobile towers can cause cancers like Schwanoma, Acoustic Neurons and Lymphoma . It is not proved that it definitely causes cancer but at the same time it is not proved that it does not cause cancer, so under the Precautionary principle Hon. Supreme Court has given a judgement recently that a tower be dismantled. Keeping this in mind the guidelines of the central and state government have to be followed. Mobile phones will not stop working if these guidelines are followed so do not be sceptical about this.
