Bantwal: Hit by motor bike senior citizen passes away

Bantwal, Nov 20: Uggappa Poojary (70) from Mannur in Iruvathur village was killed after a motor bike plowed into him at Edthoorpadavu Junction in Iruvathur village on Monday November 19.

Uggappa was walking beside the road on Monday when a bike went astray after its rider lost control over it. He suffered serious injuries in the accident and was admitted into Wenlock Hospital Mangaluru for treatment, but failed to respond to efforts made to save his life.

Shekhar from Vamadapadavu village, who was riding the motor bike, escaped with minor injuries, the police said.

Uggappa's grandaughter and student, Shraddha, had recently committed suicide by jumping into a well. Uggappa is survived by a wife, a daughter and three sons.

A case about the accident was registered at Punjalkatte police station.
